Re: Soi 94 map
If you are going to locate places like Terrace 94, in the sois at the bottom of 94, then there are a few others that deserve to be added. There is a Thai seafood & noodle only place between T90 and the small cross road; the very popular Thai restaurant at the junction of Petch and 88/2; (I think...

Blues Brothers, 1980 - in Bob's Country Bunker.Someone once said; "Thar´s only two kinds of music. Country, and Western". (hick).
And to the OP - mercifully, not many!

Re: British lady dies having an anesthetic in a BKK beauty c
Medical cock ups happen all over the world not just in Thailand. I'm sure we are all aware of some disasters that took place in our home countries. Sure - we're always warned that there is a certain risk when undergoing any procedure involving anaesthetics and I wouldn't be surprised if that is wha...

Re: Tourist Slump Continues
I flew in on an Emirates 380 a couple of weeks back and it was completely jammed full. If the other budget carriers are similar, then there's certainly quite a lot of people turning up. Of course, that might also reflect capacity reductions causing concentrations.

Re: Tourist Slump Continues
Looking at 94, quite a few already have. But are they 'high value tourists' hmmm.

Re: Tourist Slump Continues
A major problem - and one that the Thais don't really understand - is that bookings for 'high value tourists' a.k.a European families and resort dwellers, are generally made 6 months in advance and will follow the news flow at that time. So Ling Suthep and the Military intervention resulting from it...

Re: Is Living Here Difficult for You?
Well the 'granddaddy' of that world view has to be Ronnie Biggs - OK, Brazil not Thailand, but the old lag high-tailed it for home when the going got tough at the end just to spend the rest of his days in a prison hospital for the dubious benefit of being buried in England. Healthcare cost? or Quali...

Re: Is Living Here Difficult for You?
BB - I had some issues getting a new visa in the UK. It seems that immi bureaux, Cheang Wattana, Embassies and Consulates are all singing from different songsheets :banghead: . It is frustrating, and it is a moving target :guns: and it is (usually) possible to find a solution  . If I had los...

Re: Is Living Here Difficult for You?
I've lived in quite a few places over the years. One of the things that always 'gets' me, is how quickly a comfortable living space becomes impersonal once you pack a few things in boxes; and likewise, how any old 'new box' feels like home once the contents of those boxes are emptied out. Bottom lin...

Re: 4-5 gallon food grade storage bucket.... Where to find?
Thanks. I located a document called The Blue Flame which may be the Aramco thing at least in part - it is only 11 pages or so. PM on the way!

@Chaspul
Is the aramco document actual paper, or could it be emailed? If paper, how large is it for scanning - should you be in the mood to share, of course :-)

Good to know - I assumed it was a thinly disguised advert in any case. Hope I didn't offend anybody's (commercial?) sensibilities by posting the link!

This blog post http://www.samujana.com/blog/thailand-secrets is featured on the BBC's website today. I couldn't help but find 'secret 2' "The Deserted Beaches" wildly amusing! Signs of desperation here!

Re: Tourist Slump Continues
Certainly I agree a lot of high net worth people (which is how many seem to interpret the phrase 'high value'), wouldn't touch Thailand with a barge-pole.
