Re: Living on 1000 baht per day
Try asking about relative costs of living on a Thai expat forum with a larger reach than this one. The OP was asking about costs of living in Hua Hin ... is there a Hua Hin expat forum with a larger reach than this one?  This is exactly the place to ask such questions. :thumb: The O...

Re: Living on 1000 baht per day
One could tack on 5 % to live in HH rather than say..... Kanchantaburi....correct..? Don't know about specific towns except Pattaya. Several guys have said their cost of living went up 30% when they moved to HH from there. The British Pound - Thai exchange rate has taken a beating in the last 5 yea...

Re: Global Warming 2
Basic greenhouse gas theory was first experimentally demonstrated by John Tyndall in 1860 so the fact that more greenhouse gas will increase the earths temperature shouldn't really come as a surprise to anyone. Except to those who know that there is no way a simple physics model that explains lab d...

Re: Zoos to be checked after tiger skins and carcasses found
If the Chinese, after all these centuries, still have realized that Rhino horn, tiger meat and bone, and so on, doesn't help one to get a bigger dongle, they'll never puzzle it out. Wouldn't surprise me if the consumers knew it didn't work but used their purchases of rhino horn and the like to show...

Re: Living on 1000 baht per day
You could, but why? 30k baht would go a lot farther in a less expensive town. Is something about HH that appealing?

Re: Windows 8
Even Ubuntu has a UI that is tablet oriented. Either the decision makers behind win 8 and Ubuntu (and others) have bet the farm type data that says that tablets will replace PCs for the bulk of the OS market or a few years from now we'll find out how easy it is to remove the tablet oriented UI. I ex...

20cm x 20cm ziplock plastic bags for airport security
Found plastic bags at Tesco, Villa Market and the grocery store at the back of the old mall. Some had ziplocs, none had the right size. Anybody know who else sells these? Or if BKK airport security gives a damn? When I went through security for flight from Singapore to BKK I forgot to take the bag o...

One Hundred and One Dalmatians, 1961. Cruella De Vil scared me. Saw it at the Mesa Theater in Costa Mesa, California, which was torn down in '97. Ugly structure, nobody missed it. Favorite film. Gee ... I'd have trouble making a top 10 list. The Godfather is the first one come to mind. Why? Everythi...

Re: Global Warming 2
Due to the fact that mankind is not changing where it obtains it's energy, there is a correlation between population growth and fossil fuel consumption. Population also correlates with habitation density and surface areas of all of the following: human habitation, land under cultivation, paved land...

Re: heathrow horror
I've read people who advocate responding to any unreasonable question from their country's border security by first reading the text of what are permitting questions, making a statement about the inappropriateness of the question and asking to see a supervisor. Others respond that one would be an F'...
