Doesnt sound good although this has happened before. They're mainly targeting Bangkok, its a little more relaxed in Hua Hin. Most bars here have 'lock-ins' anyway whereby the shutters are down, music is off but theres still cold beer in the fridge

Most of the expats that live in Hua Hin are on tourist visas (30 days). You must leave the country every month to re-new it. The visa run is a trip down to Ranong to re-new the visa on the Burmese side.

You can get taxis anytime of day (maybe a little harder to find at 3am though!) and the fare to Cha-am is 200 baht or thereabouts.
