Re: Songkran Road Carnage 2016
Driving down from BKK to HH you come across some of the worst drivers known on this planet. Switching lanes at high speeds seems to be the norm rather than the reality. A few well placed speed cameras would do wonders to slow these crazy incompetents down just a little and in the doing saving many l...

Re: Hua Hin Hospital Vs Bangkok Hospital
My wife and I have a very high opinion of BKK Hospital. The service has always been superb, quick and efficient. The cost is a fraction of what similar treatment would be in Australia. However, the best part is that you can go for treatment and be referred to a specialist and seen within the hour. W...

Re: Minivan, bus and road accidents
This terrible accident has been a lead story on Australian TV. Cannot understand why there are no warning lights or boom gates.

Re: Aussie Couple preperation
The 85,000 bht is actually 65,000 bht per month, a typo on my part. If you apply for the Retirement Visa from Australia the Embassy is only interested in your combined incomes for the year being above their threshold. Or if you 800,000 bht sitting dormant in a bank account they will count that. Best...

Re: Aussie Couple preperation
Yes that is right, the combined total of your incomes must equate to 85,000 bht per month. You need to provide bank statements to substantiate. Once that is done it is all pretty straight forward with the Thai Embassy in Canberra, they are very helpful and easy to talk to.

Re: Aussie Couple preperation
Hi We live in Hua Hin for 6 months a year and in Australia (Perth) for most of the other six months. We have a Retirement Visa issued by the Thai Embassy in Canberra that gives us a twelve month entry. Cost us $225 each. You need to be able to demonstrate an income for each of you of about $38,000 p...

Re: Cicada Markets Hua Hin
Yes opens from Friday to Sunday. It has been greatly upgraded over the past two years with many more chairs and tables set out. Get there early, before 6.30 to beat the crush between then and 9.30, however, as the high season winds down the crowds will diminish. It is just outside the entrance to th...

Re: Hua Hin Tuk Tuk minimum prices
The main issue is the arrogance and downright rudeness of the young male tuk tuk drivers. What I love about Thailand and HH is the gentleness and polite nature of the Thais. These guys are a blight on HH and need to be pulled into line. Nine times out of ten I refuse their outrageous fare demand and...

Re: Hua Hin Tuk Tuk minimum prices
The young male Tuk Tuk drivers at MV are generally rude, arrogant and couldn't are less if they refuse your offer of a reasonable fare.
They need to be pulled into line by the authorities, especially the MV management, as they spoil tourists perceptions of HH.

Re: Big Dog Problem Down 114
When I first started coming to Hua Hin in the early nineties the biggest downside was the large number of dogs that roamed the beach. They were very aggressive and would attack without warning. Whoever got rid of them deserves a pat on the back, however, they have returned. They seem to belong to th...

Re: Hua Hin night market times
That is right, depending on whether high or low season. During low season a bit later and the smaller market is not usually fully functional because of the lack of tourists. In high season, now, the main night market is in full swing by 5.30pm. By 7.00pm it can become very crowded and bit of a hassle...

Djokovic is a$1.20 favourite and Murray is $5 to win. Enough said, but the impossible does happen as we saw in Women's Final.

Re: Is 14 nights in Hua Hin too long?
October is a great time to visit. Weather is good apart from the thunder shower at 3pm or thereabouts. It does refresh the whole place. However, not too many Scandi tourists so restaurants and beach are not busy. Plus Bluport will be open by then to add a little more interest. Being at the Hilton yo...
