Re: Thai Driving License

I have an old British paper licence, will that be accepted? Do you still have to take a test or does the British licence mean you automatically get issued with a Thai licence?

Battery testers

I have noticed that when replacing clock batteries the clocks don't work when new batteries are put in. This has happened with clocks from the UK as well as local clocks. Maybe the heat or the old batteries leaking is the cause.

The car parks are very near the Terminal building and well signed. The one I used was on the ground floor level. To enter the building you cross the road and use lifts to get to the arrival level.

Property trade assoc.

I fail to understand why this is not open to all. A list of names of participants and their companies would be helpful for all concerned. If there is no transparency people will read into it that there is something to hide. Surely the original idea was to bring everything out into the open and stop ...

Swampy to Hua Hin

What is the best way to get to Hua Hin from Swampy, have been unable to find "new" route or how to get to it. If I get onto the BKK motorway from the airport what road signs should I look for? I normally end up going through Bangkok on the motorway and go over the impressive bridge. I'm su...

Hua Hin property professionals unite

Would it not be useful to publish a list of attendees from both developers and agents. This would show who is interested in improving the current situation.

I use Room by Room, pricey but generally do a good job. What price do you pay for peace of mind if you are living 6000 miles away. Some of the horror stories I have heard about other companies keep me with Room by Room.

email scam

I had one from "HSBC" this morning re a digital upgrade to internet banking. I contacted HSBC who asked me to send it to phishing@hsbc so they can try and trace the source. The mail looked authentic with HSBC logos and no spelling mistakes so very easy to be fooled.

Police fines

I only have a paper licence, have hired from Avis at BKK with no problems. Have been stopped my MIB 3 times and am now 600B poorer although last year was stopped on road to Pranburi. Showed paper licence and was let go with no "donation". Perhaps I have been lucky.

Who's panicking

When transferring money from UK Bank to Thailand ask for the commercial rate as opposed to Tourist rate. This has a limit on it and if you exceed it they get a trader to give you an individual quote.

Classy glasses

On my last visit I visited the Dr with rest of my family, we all had glasses made within a week. He also gave me the news that I had a cataract growing in one eye and showed me on his machine. A thorough examination was given to all of us, he also noticed a problem with my wife's eye, and at a reaso...
