Re: Information on V Bar (was up2u bar)

Not so negative everybody. Me and my business partner Andre bought this place. We've knocked down the walls and had it painted (all black was a little depressing). We've opened about 3 weeks ago and actually the bar is running much better as we expected before. Of course every week has a few quiet e...

Re: marriage + employment

When I came to Thailand I had a Non-O marriage visum, applied for a work permit and received it without a problem.
Did it like this for about 2 years and only needed to switch to a Non-B visum because I got divorced.
This is some years ago (6), so it might be possible that rules are changed by now.

Re: Earthquake Insurance

After the floodings of last year, indeed most companies in Thailand stopped giving coverage by the 1s of january this year (for new and renewals) for natural catastrophes. And the lady at MSIG is correct, this was mainly caused because the reassurance companies did not want to cover that anymore, so...

Re: Transfer of funds to Australia

I tried to transfer money back to Holland some years ago and also i never received the paper when i brought the money in (i was not aware of it at that time). But the bank told me it could still be fixed but that could take some time and would cost some money. When i told it was to pay the college f...

Re: Hire car Motor bike Insurane

If you rent a motorbike, it will probably only have the CTPL insurance (Compulsory Third Party Liability). This insurance only covers for bodily injury/death, so it doesn't give any coverage for third party property damage and/or damage to the rented motorbike. It is not possible to insure rental mo...

Re: Crash involving two schoolgirls aged 16

On the subject of insurance, does the insurace cover the vehicle for anybody who's driving it? Or is it like England where you're insured for the vehicle with named drivers? Compulsory is valid for all drivers. First, second and third class insurances are normally for all drivers also, but with fir...

Re: Crash involving two schoolgirls aged 16

Compulsory (Porobo) covers for 3rd party bodily injury (max 50,000 baht a person) or death (max. 200,000 baht a person) but it also covers for bodily injury of the driver of the insured motorbike (max 15,000 baht). This is all it covers, so no coverage for third party property damage or damage to y...

Re: Crash involving two schoolgirls aged 16

I think you should not worry too much. If the girls only had minor injuries your compulsory insurance will cover for the medical costs. The compulsory does not cover for damage on the motorbikes, so the worst thing that can happen is that you have to pay for that (and maybe that's only a small amoun...

I liked the food there very much. It is located in Lucky Plaza (opposite the Railway station at the corner, about 30 meters right of the 7-11). Try the Chicken Quatro!
