Re: Life in Thailand Poll No.4 (Expectations)
A few years ago I actually had some money (haha). It wasn't enough to get on the property ladder in England but would have been enough to put a deposit on a condo in Hua Hin. I was desperate to invest my money but when it came to finance all roads led to 'no!' With the benefit of hind sight, from th...

Re: Day Trips from Hua Hin
Sorry I did mean from Hua Hin but you're quite right; I got it round the wrong way. Minibus is approx 2 hours from Hua Hin to NKP; 45 Mins from BKK to NKP

Re: Day Trips from Hua Hin
In which case you can get a minivan to NKP which takes 45 minutes, as opposed to the three or more hours your likely to spend on the train.dtaai-maai wrote:Nakhon Pathom ?usual suspect wrote: take an early train Northbound to Nakon Pratom (I think?)

Re: My other halfs Looking for work
Hotel Jobs in Hua Hin seem to offer quite low wages but reasonably generous monthly 'service charge's. My girlfriend works in a big hotel and her Salary is only 7000bt, but her Service Charge usually ranges from 7000-15000 on top of her salary. I guess the reasoning is that if the hotel/area/global ...

Static IP
Does anybody know if Thai ISPs can provide static IP addresses and, if so, what the cost of this service is?

Re: Taxi or train from Hua Hin to Chumpoon?
Chumphon is the best place to go if going to Koh Tao but Surat is better for Samui. You spend less time on the ferry. The Ferry is always part of the fun for me so the more time the better. Screw Surat - go straight to Chumpon and enjoy the ride. Exactly; I've never worked out why Surat is...

Re: Laptop disc drive
That sounds like a faulty drive trying to take too much power from the computer, or a damaged USB port on the computer. External DVD drives are a standard commodity and compatible with all USB enabled PCs & Macs.

I couldn't help but smirk when following the unwrapping of the plastic seal to a bottle of sweet chilli sauce I purchased from my local Asian minimarket, a closer inspection of said cover had the words "cock brand" plastered all over it.

Re: 9 Things That Will Disappear In Our Lifetime
The only one I can fault is "Music". While the music industry is indeed in trouble and their delivery and marketing methods are changing rapidly, I think there will always be new music as it is one of the earliest creative forms of art on the planet. Yup. The death of the music industry w...

This Xenophobic Attitude had also prevented Disney Theme Park to set up shop in Thailand (within Pattaya Area) around 1999 or so but Thai lawmakers got greedy and demanded $50 Million Dollars in Backhanders and additional $50 to 100 Millions Dollars for smooth building permits. etc. Disney crossed ...
