In a moment of weakness I bought a suit three years ago, absolute rubbish it was too. With their irritating persistance, these so called tailors become the enemy of the tourist and make some streets places to avoid. Said 'No thank you' to one tonight, kept getting the long lost brother in need of po...

So the two most useless things that you can buy in Hua Hin (a wooden frog and a suit) are sold by the most irritating salespeople. Can't say I've ever seen anyone buy either - but then, why on earth would you.

An ID card that is not compulsory, except when you renew your passport. Let's have a little think; the only people getting this new form of ID are the ones getting an existing form of ID, neither of which you are required to carry. Result - law abiding people will have two (rather expensive) forms o...

Sugarcane (friendly - nice, cosy atmosphere), Nervana (couth, very family friendly), Crawfords (couther still, good for varied beers and sports on the big screen).

Steve, don't go back. We did in the mid 90's and had itchy feet until we moved out of Britain again 5 years ago (to Spain this time) The country will drive you mad with it's Nanny State mentality, rediculous taxes, spin, house prices which mean ordinary people can't afford ordinary houses, student f...

Amazing that there's not a real international school in Hua Hin. There must be the demand to make it succeed surely. We would have been interested but it's getting too close now to GCSEs (or whatever Mr Bliar's latest glossy, spinny name they are called by this week). Some Bangkok schools and BCIS d...

Canon 350D gets my vote - I'm very happy with it. My only criticism is that the pop up flash isn't much good except for short distances. Went mad and bought a Canon flashgun to go with it which was worth the extra for the integration with the camera.

Stayed at the Sofitel bungalows 3 years ago. Good fun, family friendly but a bit basic. They were going to be renovated the following year. Hopefully, it's been done. Even if not they are a good if basic place for a family of 4 with the facilities of the main Sofitel included.

TG (Thai) have now put on a flight from Madrid to Bangkok three times a week. It does a pit stop in Rome to load a few more Mediterranean types and some pasta.

Expect to see a few more Spanish visitors.

Bought a 'Rolex' last weekend for a bargain price from one of these wandering watch salesman. The hands haven't moved since.
Not such a bargain after all.
My experience suggests that the answer might be to not buy their crappy watches. (Or suits - but that's another story).
