Re: Poor choice of dashcams on Lazada!

BB, don't forget that signboards are typically fixed, and quite large so should be legible. number plates are on another (moving) vehicle, so there is inherent blurring. This is also where a good aperture on the camera is important, as is the recording speed AND your SD card capability. You will nee...

Re: Poor choice of dashcams on Lazada!

Ooh, ouch. That is one expensive piece of kit, before even the shipping and taxes are added..

Re: Poor choice of dashcams on Lazada!

... On the other hand I want wifi, and would like GPS. Not all cams have both. GOOD WDR is useful too (some cams seem to boast it but actually don't really have it). And I think G-sensor is not actually full 'parking mode' (i.e. constant time lapse capture). These options will drive the price range...

Re: Number plate replacement

Make a police report, so if the lost number plate is used on another car in a criminal act, you are covered (sort of). Then get a replacement plate from the DLT - the official plates will have a small circular stamp towards the bottom corner whereas a 'printed' plate won't. Another reason for the BI...

Re: Crazy Motorcyclists

It's annoying when it's done in my moobahn, which has become a bit of an impromptu shortcut when the development at the end of the road decided to make a dead-end street passable through their compound. We've already had to pick up one casualty when she went at speed over those road humps, but the s...

Re: Poor choice of dashcams on Lazada!

BB, clarity of the videos depend on the resolution (i.e. number of pixels) the dashcam is rated for. Most these days can record at a true 1080 resolution at 30 fps (frames per second) . Don't settle for anything less than this . The front camera I got has a resolution of 1296, which helps with the i...

Re: New drivers must take longer theory training

Don't have to worry about this any more, got a 'for life' licence.. the obvious question - how? Back in the day, if you had a long-stay visa (I had PR) you could get them, once you passed a year or so on the initial one-year licence. It was later amended to a five-year period, I guess from a revenu...

Re: Poor choice of dashcams on Lazada!

Since it's a dashcam, you might as well get a front and back one in the same package. I've been through three front facing ones, the reason I've just changed is because the battery in the camera does not keep the date if I don't drive the car for more than a day. I picked one up from a CCTV place, e...

Re: New drivers must take longer theory training

Pet peeve, partly related to topic, but mainly a rant provoked by another near miss in Bangkok. I get particularly annoyed with motorcyclists who tend to ride at speed between lanes, it makes it particularly difficult to move across lanes when the move is needed, say to get into a u-turn lane. They ...

...Check iherb.com. They ship to Thailand from the U.S. I've been dealing with them for years. It generally takes about 2 weeks to receive a package.... --OFF TOPIC-- HD, I've ordered from iherb when in Singapore without problems but have been worried there would be problems importing into Thailand...

Re: The Pros & Cons of Using Aircon

People tend to acclimatize to their environment. Some take longer, others not. Point in question. Many years ago, I went on a job assigmnent to The Netherlands. It was July, around their summer and the temperature was 16 - 18 deg C. I felt cold, coming from a place where the average daily temperatur...

Yes, Norseman, I remember well. If I am not mistaken, the kebab machine on that night was courtesy of Buksida? Good times. Also met one or two not so active members on subsequent trips, Bircow is one that comes to mind, and only met Usual Suspect once. Not seen JW for a while but that's what happens...

Re: Alternative way to upload images to the forum.

Is image deletion perhaps the reason why I am unable to see the photos from the HHAD birthday party thread circa 31st Jan 2006?
