HH is about 250 km from the airport and about 220 from downtown Bangkok. Taxis cost about 2,000 baht one way. Since you coming in here for the first time, take a taxi. Trains are slow and most of them will leave in the afternoon or early evening. Taxi is also a good option if you don't have a hotel ...

One of the worst areas in downtown is the intersection leading to the public beach (it passes Sofitel). Sofitel itself shouldn't have big problems as it's on higher ground. It may be difficult to move around, though, if there's a lot of water in that particular intersection.

I've tried the one near the railway tracks, not far away from Sunshine internet cafe and the food there is good and inexpensive.

There are plenty of places renting motorbikes in Hua Hin. Daily rents start from 150/180. For three months you should be able to negotiate the price to 3000-4000 baht per month.
For fishing look for the link to Mermaid Cruises at our sponsors list.

Agree with what has been said about the fortune tellers. If they'd be so good why did they approach me and a friend of mine the other day, couldn't they foresee we didn't want them. About the flower girls, they are everywhere around and probably there'll be more as the tourist season starts. I can't...

Jaime has a good point. Without tourism and development we might all be living in our home towns. It's a bit like Thais going to England saying, we've seen photos of Stonehenge and this doesn't look like it at all. Everybody wants to have better quality of life. Would you expect the native Indians o...
