They're at it again

Post by Lev »

Quick warning to motorcyclists in Hua Hin, the police are out in force again checking helmets ... at night. Last night at gone 10pm there was a bunch of them near the 7-Eleven over the railway. They will take your keys (which is illegal) and force you to go out to the airport station to pay the fine. Be warned and keep your lid on.

I want to know when they'll start on the real menaces; drunk pickup drivers with no lights, it seems to be an anti-motorbike police force here.

whilst I can appreciate that using a helmet in the Hua-Hin heat is like riding around with an oven on your head, if it keeps your brains off the road when/if you fall, it must be better.........wear the lid !

Hell-met

I find that the most convenient helmet is the one used in bicyckling. It is light, well ventilated
and it is easy to find the ones with the EU safety approval stamp. These meet at least some
kind of safety criteria as opposed to 150 Bath chamber-pots most widely used here.

Another of my favourites is the old Wermacht model drilled full of holes.
Not as safe as a good bicyckle helmet, but gets you off the clutches of the HH brownest.

Of course Lev is right: the real menace are the blind drunk pick-up cowboys with no lights and scant brakes.
And of course the police turns a blind eye towards these kamikazes. TIT!
