I first visited Hua Hin in 1990.
I stayed in my brother's house in Cha-Am and walked down to Hua Hin one day, despite the laughter and disbelief of many locals!
What I did want to ask was... I had a drink, and then several more drinks, in the Head Rock Café (the owner told me Hua Hin meant Head Rock(ish))
He was a delightful chap and a big fan of Ella Fitzgerald. I meant to write to him when I got back to England, but ... one of many things I regret!
Does anybody remember him, or know who I am talking about?
Many thanks to all!
Pb
p.s. I do hope Thailand can sort itself out without blood and upset - I have SUCH happy memories of it!

What's noticeable here is that most if not all who have visited HH enjoyed and have been back or will be back.

My parents are the same, they prefer HH to any other spot in Thailand so were happy when we move here from Bangkok 2 years ago.

Dec 26th 2014. After heaps of research went to HH to see if it was the place we wanted to retire. Met our daughter there who lives in JK. We all fell in love with HH and have rented a property. Can't wait to go back. We are from west oz.

My first visit was only last year, first visit to Thailand was in 1990 so it's taken a while to get to HH :)

Will be back next month and can't wait to see more.

2001 - with a group of 40 Irish piss artists ! I think that was the start of Hua Hin's downfall as a quaint seaside tourist resort ! I'm a regular since then. Unfortunately, progress has taken it's toll - while health and safety standards have improved, for me, it has become too commercialised. It doesn't stop me coming to HH but I do like to head North sometimes to see Thai life again.

Well it's only taken you 25 years to make your first post, hopefully the next few will be a bit faster. Welcome to the forum

Thank you! HH was a much different place back in the 90s. And even though it's changed (mostly for the worst) I guess it's still better than a lot of other big name resort towns in Thailand.

Came in Feb last year for a few days and intend to return soon just a few queries while I'm here what's it like in June-Sept? Weather? Are there people around or is it too quiet? Looking at a 2 or 3 month rental to see how I like the place

Very quiet with frequent rain showers...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Thanks for the info and that changes my plans a bit and I presume Apr-June is too hot?
