What's the price of tickets? I must be way behind the times. Have not been to the cinema in an age, and decided to give one of the local cinemas a go - 10 GBP/16 USD!!! I seem to remember it being a damn sight cheaper in the UK, and was amazed at this price in China...... this also being Chongqing, not one of the ''rich cities'' of the east....

there is an app for smart phones which tells you all the films showing at every Major in Thailand and the language - I checked on this and went to see killer elite last weekend.

I think Major do a pretty good job myself with this app and the website, adverts in the ground floor of market village...
This pretty good job is evidenced by several threads - including the petition - here about the HH Cinema. If the marketing would be truly well executed, there'd be no recurring lamentations like these several threads.
The nerd-apps HHC of course has. However, the nerd-apps often show that a film is in English, but when you go to HHC, the ticket-seller will tell you that the nerd-app is inaccurate and the film is voiced-over in Thai. I have experienced this so many times I won't even try to go to HHC anymore.

It appears our interpretations of a good marketing job vary.

This is a good website and gives times / language etc,

http://www.movieseer.com/th/showtimes.aspx

But it is not 100% accurate, so always call and check the times and language before going down. The tel number is on the website.

Cost about 120 something, depends on the seat / time / day, blah blah. Cheap anyway, not 10 pounds :)

What's the prices at HH then?

In Bangkok I can pay 100 baht at the old-school cinema in Siam Square. :)
Not as fancy as the mall cinema but old-school is old-school...

The extended family are in town, and being a virtual non-drinker these days I needed an excuse to get out. I decided to look up Hua Hin Cinema http://www.majorcineplex.com/en/cinema/major-huahin/ to see if there was anything worth watching (in English).

My search revealed that the new Spiderman movie was being shown in 3D. My son and I went down at the advertised start time, and sure enough the movie was being shown in English, so my 'EN/TH' theory was correct. The cost was 190 Baht per head, which I thought very reasonable for a 3D movie.

The cinema itself was very clean, and the seats were 'Big Boy sized' and very comfortable (much better standard than the cinemas in the Bristol area of the UK). Overall, an enjoyable experience that I will use again. I will certainly watch out for further English showings.

My experience was shared with about 30 other customers - mainly of Thai appearance.

I went into the web site but could see nothing about films being shown in English: where should I look?

I'll try to write a quick instruction.

- Go into the link, and click the 'All Branches' tab, and select Major Cineplex Huahin.

- Click 'Showtime' - this will bring up a list of all movies currently being shown.

- You will be presented with something like this:

- If you look at the entry for Theatre 2, you will notice that one of the information boxes states EN/TH - these are the movies that 'should' be in English ................... but don't forget - TIT :D

Movies are such a better value here than they are in the west, the standing up business not withstanding. Cinemas are far nicer here too but Thai patrons tend to be chatty and I can't stand that. I've had to ask a few to quiet down so everyone can enjoy the show.

It's definitely being shown. However, all of the information to date is saying that it will be shown in Thai only.

When I was there the other week, they showed a trailer in English, so fingers crossed.

If you use the method I've laid out above, you will see that it is being shown in Theatre 3 at 11:10, 14:30, 17:50 & 21:10 daily, but as i said, only in Thai at the moment.

Just checked that website BB and it looks like it has been put together with the usual care and attention..

The location map puts it smack outside His Majesty's Palace - don't think that he will be too pleased with that
