JW, rumo(u)r or verified? Where exactly on Soi 112? That's awfully close to Market village for a second store, not to mention another one 20 minutes south in Pranburi. I wonder if true would they be closing in Market village and giving up that space to some other retail outlet.

Any idea what the winter ferry fares will be to get from the main drag up to the store?

They might as well move it up there - soi 112 has become Petchkasem mark 2 since the floating markets opened... :(
This is the way

A strange location with their Pranburi store not so far away - the new Makro area would have been better but perhaps no availability, although supermarket buying power should have prevailed

Tesco is really expanding in Thailand; I've just come up to Issan for a few days and they've even opened a small Express one in our sleepy little local market town of Nong Ki in Buriram.

If they do move out of Market Village I wonder if that will lead to the decline of MV? I'm thinking it may end up in the same situation as Colonnade, with no big store to attract the punters?

Would be a great spot for a Tops Supermarket.

jw,

any idea of timescales, and where on soi 112 ? Its quite long ! talking of timescales, i wonder if they are intending it to coincide with the making of 112 into a dual carriage way all the the way from petchkasem to the bypass which was reported to be finished by the end of 2012 (thought the final 9/10th's hasnt started yet). the bypass end of 112 would be the cheaper end, but that would place it relatively close to the pranburi tescos, and might canabalize more sales than they would like.

Well... I was happy to have a Makro next to soi Bo Fai but if I cannot buy food at Makro and Tesco moves to soi 112, this is sad for those living north of Huahin. :cuss:

Any idea of what will replace Tesco at Market Village ? Big C ? Tops ?

Fingers crossed that Tops moves into the shop vacated by Tesco.

Yup, agree with that compass point.
Edit I wasn't quick enough, I agree with JG.

The only Tops I've seen are co-located with Central Dept. store but a Foodland in MV would also be good.
