The Tops in Ratchaburi is in the Robinson complex.

Any idea of what will replace Tesco at Market Village ? Big C ? Tops ?
For those north of town, I notice that there is yet another new building going up half way to Cha Am on the left that looks very much like a Big C.

In fact the same distance than Tesco but without the hassle of traffic lights, traffic and U-turns :D

Could be great :thumb:

From the style of the building and car parking it certainly looks like a Big C. I.'ve been living towards the north of town for the last few years and you can get to Cha Am far easier than you can get to Market Village.

Makro sells to anybody.
I've been going to the Makro in Pranburi w/o a membership card for years.
I can't see why the new one will be any different.

I would hazard a guess that the new Tesco will be on the right as you go up 112 away from town just past the turn off for Banyan and Greenfield......large plot of land there and construction has begun.

There's a Tops in the basement of Robinsons on Sukhumvit - good store IMO to rival Villa for prices and stock.
Foodland Soi 5 Sukhumvit has gone - the whole site through to the main road there is well on the way to completion by the look of it as sommat or other 5. So maybe Foodland WILL look for another site - possibly HH?
If Foodland does open in HH I think Villa and a few 7's could kiss their sweet asses goodbye. Never fails to amaze me though how people are drawn to Tesco like it's a magnet. It happens here in the UK to the most sensible and otherwise normal people!

Foodland Soi 5 Bangkok did reopen again in just the last few days.

Agreed though a Foodland would be nice here.

Has the Soi 5 Foodland just had a refurb then Tony? it looked pretty much swallowed up in the new development!

I just checked their Web site, it seems they have no shop between Huahin and Cha- Am, the nearest one being in Petchburi.

No idea on timeline but sateeb has the land plot correct - i would say that they would put this up very fast - the Sea Craze condo started from scratch in June with pilings and they have the main structure pretty much up now - I reckon an group like Tesco could build this and have it operational in around 6 to 8 months.

What will replace Tesco in MV, who knows but i a Tops would be great!

Hate to disappoint you SG but if you're referring to the one with the red sign frontage near Hilton/Regent it's a project by the Central Group called "Thai Watsadu", a home improvement center.

I'm currently watching the NFL playoffs on my tablet which seems to be using up my Google resources, but Google Thaiwatsadu and you'll see the store frontage. It's exactly the same.

I was really hoping for a Tesco but alas, it's not to be. Good news, though, the missus and I went to Tha Yang the other day and the new Tesco/Lotus there is super, duper great. KFC, Mr. Donut, a Big C type store with groceries and TVs, clothes, some hardware, and various other retail outlets all inside the big box. We had a great time and it's exactly seventeen minutes from the traffic light in Cha Am. Only about a twenty five minute drive up the highway......same time as it takes us to get to Market Village but a hell of a lot easier on the nerves.

I drove past there this morning. If they're building a new Tesco because the current one is too small, I'd have to say the plot doesn't look big enough.
