Dinosaur Market

Post by Big Boy »

Over the last couple of weeks I've read many references to the Dinosaur Market in Hua Hin. I've been around Hua Hin on and off for the past 15 years, and it is only now that I've heard of it. Is it new? Could somebody please put me out of misery, and tell me where it is, and what they sell.

There's been quite a few references recently, but nobody saying what it is, where it is or what it does.

Just posted and it's disapperead.

short post now. follow klong road out of town, main traffic lights, turn left, just a market 200M right. The soi is also known as soi dinasaur. Boat restaurant 100M right. Great noodles 400M left at the end of a row of shop houses.

Hope that helps.

Thank you poosmate, but if you completed the search, you will have seen a market with the same name described in at least 2 other locations.

Incidentally, is that a 'pet farang' name for the market, or is that its official name? The reason I ask, is that my Thai daughter who has lived in Hua Hin many years uses that market a lot, but had never heard it called that.

Isn't there a purple concrete dinosaur there? There was at one time but I don't know if that's where the name came from or if they put it there after.

It's on soi 56, a few 100 m west of the klongroad. Open wednesday and sunday. Running at it's highest from around 3-4 afternoon. It's big and very 'colorful'.

Go see it one day and have afterwards a beer at The Boat. Very good people.

No,not that one, I'm sure there used to be a small battered concrete one at the back of the dinosaur market off the klong road.

Yes BB, it's just a market, but to be honest, I would say it's a bit better than the other markets in the area. There seems to be more variety, and generally a better atmosphere. Also, the Boat restaurant move to the area after they squeezed out of their place in central Hua-Hin, and I know they really need customers, so you could always nip in for a beer. A very nice Thai family that never forget you once they've met you.
