Rubbish... I see people using them frequently, often using more than one at the same time, in fact
I like the one big lane better, then we don't have to hear all the old grumpy men in their 4x4 complain
about thai's that drive they want

Next time I buy a car it will definitely be a big truck/van so I just can swing out from a small road with
out the need to think of motorbike or smaller car, they will stop for me, as I have the biggest car

I walked past the site today - the hoardings are advertising early 2016 as the opening date.

Blueport project progress.

Post by usual suspect »

About a month ago (when returned to HH on the a/pt bus) I noticed a couple of tower-cranes had gone up at the Bluport construction site.
Thinking that it must be over a year now since the hoarding/wall went up & work started there..I expected it to be taking shape.
But as the bus got to the gateway, & I peeked in..there was bugger-all there! :?
All this time work has been going on there & there's pretty much nothing above ground-level even now..?? The lofty cranes are just to shift materials across the site.
What is the planned competion date of this project? Hope it has good wheelchair access..cos from
what I can see, by the time it's open for trading I'll be in one!

Of what I understand it will be in two different phases....

First phase is the extension of the InterCon with 40 additional rooms, ballroom, etc in Q3 2015.... Second phase is the actual mall which should be ready in 2016 (towards the end), however that opening date is a bit more flexible. They are currently still working on the underground, park garage, civil engineering etc. Of what I can see they have been pushing hard the last 6 month.....

Cheers,
B.

Mall Group prepares expansion worth B5bn

The Mall Group will continue to expand its business this year, allocating 5 billion baht on new projects and upgrades to cope with the tougher retail market.

The company will also spend 2 billion baht to develop Blue Port, the latest retail project under its group in Hua Hin. Construction in Hua Hin is 80% complete, and the project is scheduled to open earlier than planned, in October.

Blu Port is still several months from opening. I think what will be going on inside is still a mystery to everybody. Just hope their business plan is more successful than East Square.

I don't think BluPort are going to be facing the same problems as East Square.

In the early 90's we would sit in the restaurant at the top of the Baiyoke Tower and watch the miles of traffic coming into downtown Bangkok just sit there for what seemed like an eternity. This project may turn Phetkasem Rd. into the same scenario.

Someone, somewhere has got to have figured out how to mitigate the traffic or this thing wouldn't have got this far.....wonder when they'll spring it. Or.......could it just be more TIT?

I just noticed that the Pierre Cardin shop at MV is closed. I wonder how many of those high-end stores(With no customers) will transfer to Bluport.
I also notice that from the rear view the parking decks at Bluport are HUGE, 7 stories. Its good that they have improved the back roads, particularly for M'bikes we havean alternative to the in/out jam there will be on PK.

According to the sign on the shop the Pierre Cardin store is being renovated and they've moved to a temporary location.

HHTel wrote:The whole store is being revamped. New departments. New fridges and some may have noticed there are new check-outs. No more pushing your produce to the cashier. It's quite a major shift and I'm sure it's because of Blueport opening in just over a month. I'm told that the supermarket there is TOPS. Can anyone confirm this?
I would have thought it would be Gourmet Market like their other properties.

The Mall group have other supermarkets in their buildings. Tops used to be at least one, Foodcity is another. We'll know in a month or so.

I would actually prefer Tops if it's like the one at Robinson Sukhumvit, but others (Seacon, Ratchaburi) are not so good. Never heard of Foodcity so no opinion. Gourmet Market in Emporium is very good, but others are quite small (e.g. Terminal 21).
