I also think that the Embassies need to become more involved in addressing issues in Thailand (scams targeting foreigners, corruption, poor infrastructure, deaths of foreigners, etc.)
The Embassies need to be doing more than just simply 'Improving and furthering trade relations".

Just go inside any branch of a bank, don't use the booths. If you have to because of time of day just change one note.

Pre-paid cards sound like 'the way forward'..that is until (even after explicitly informing the UK bank that you're gonna be travelling around Thailand)..your bank blocks the card after your first withdrawl!..this has just happened to a backpacking-customer of ours yesterday, just as she's about to set off for Malaysia.

I have a Bangkok Bank credit card. If I use it outside of any Hotel or major outlet, in Malaysia, they cancel it also. Malaysia has a terrible history of credit card fraudusual suspect wrote:Pre-paid cards sound like 'the way forward'..that is until (even after explicitly informing the UK bank that you're gonna be travelling around Thailand)..your bank blocks the card after your first withdrawl!..this has just happened to a backpacking-customer of ours yesterday, just as she's about to set off for Malaysia.

yes the Drummond Story is the same one, he was here in Hua Hin about a week ago and had a few drinks with him

Oh Lord.... in Hua Hin!
I see the future of all Thailand as being like Pattaya and Phuket within the next 20 years, when it comes to such scams, extortion and thuggery.

There are cameras in that booth I believe, I assume the tapes would not be kept though.
