New car parks for Hua Hin?

Post by bill »

read article somewhere that new mayor wants to tear down goverment buildings in downtown hua hin and replace them with parking. 2 big teardowns would be police and mayor's buildings, on opposite sides of street[near burger king]. all would move out to municiple building's on by pass[hwy.4]. my wife says that this has been in the making for years. parking in town would recieve some much needed space and make that intersection the city center. any thoughts?

My thoughts are whoever owns the land, will they agree to having say a 3/4 storey car-park built upon the plot or hang-out for a developer to offer them X-times more dosh for another shopping mall or something similar..?
For the car-park idea to work it would need to be central, & as we all know 'central'= top dollar per Sq.M.
For me I think a big multi-storey on that bare ground just before Lin's Cafe on Pekky Rd, with access from both the main Rd & the 'railway' Rd..(Petkasem Rd's Southbound access would be c/o a lefthand filter, then up & over into the building.) FINALLY will someone at the HH Amphur see the dire need for overhead walkways to help folk over the main roads here. Knit together that 're-bar', & get that concrete pumped in..leow-leow!

The only reason that those Farang bars exist in Hua Hin is because there is no parking!

While we're talking about car parks, what's the story with multi-story car park next to the Tessebahn? Is that a public car park, or restricted to Tessebahn (or whoever) employees? I've walked through there several times, and it always seems busy with cars coming and going all of the time.

BB that's a good question..I was on the understanding that when that 2/3 tier car park was erected it was indeed meant to cater for 'others' when the Tessaban employees were (dare I say) not working..but many times on an evening the barriers a very firmly DOWN & the gates that allow access onto the Soi at the Southern end of the area well & truly shut & locked! As for during the daytime or within their 'working' hours then I cannot comment on if a 'pass' is needed to gain access or not..??
(I challenge the 'working' aspect of this establishment due to the fact that whenever you go in there, for what ever reason..when you approach any window you get such a sour-faced bag, who makes you instantly regret ever disturbing her..and invaribly she will either give you a hard time or simply f*** you off with the usual "Come back, 1 hour" & duly shut her window in your face..well worthy of being a sketch from Monty Python almost).

Customers can use the car park if they can find a space. Many spaces are reserved anyway as shown by the car reg numbers posted in them. I usually end up in the open air car park at the back - especially when it's raining.

Never met the sour-faced bag. Usually everyone is pleasant enough. But I've only used the one-stop service and the cashier department.

Can't have a public park in the town centre. That would be a waste of valuable real estate. We need more hotels and shopping centres. And car parks of course.

Anyway, there's always the beach. And Hin Lek Fai park on the top of the hill. They should spend some money up there and get rid of the aviary ruins and make a nice formal garden or something. There's also Queens Park 19 rai, which has a small sea side park area.

Building a car park in those locations would mean having to walk to get anywhere. Something it seems locals and visitors alike are averse to. Just the 'Mad dogs and....'.
