Negotiating MV's agonising entrance

Post by Pleng »

Taken from another thread.

Your history clearly shows that you dislike Market Village but I do wish you'd stop assuming everybody else feels the same way.

What is it exactly that we're supposed to feel antagonised by at the entrance to Market Village?!

I went there last month and it did take about half an hour to get parked. I suppose it will get better when it's finished.

Just drive past the entrance to the new part of the car park and take the little entrance that takes you downstairs. Not many go down there these days.

Time needed to park M'bike -- 5 min on a bad day
Time needed to get out of Tuk-Tuk or Taxi and walk in -- 2min max
Whats the problem?

Actually when I went, that was the only part that was open which is why it took so long to get parked. I had to take the pick-up because the size of what I was buying would have challenged the Honda Wave!

I think Richard may have been refering to the queued-up traffic on Petkasem Rd at weekends, or maybe the prospect of trying to find a slot for your m/bike?..& when you see a space for your Honda 'Clunk'..how the hell do you get in there to it..?? (this dilema confronts me AFTER farting-about with MV's traffic-system that leads you on a round-a-bout route that FINALLY brings you around to the m/cycle area!).
It's the little things that bug me like when I asked about Disabled parking..?? That area I've never seen, but a security man told me (when I was near Tesco's) that it was near the main Rd..park your vehicle & walk back..WHAT!
They opened the 'back' entrance off the new(ish) 'railway road'..that made things much easier for m/cycles..happy days, no need to go around that damn 1-way system..err, no. They've blocked it off again now
FFS!
I go there only to milk the EON machine, then come straight out...I hate the bloody place! Rant over.

I see I didn't realise we were talking about driving in. Yes I guess that's a bit of a pain.

If we're talking driving (I must admit, I didn't relate the comment to driving because I wasn't aware that richrd drove), then yes, it can be a pain if you go at the wrong time on a weekend. However, is it any different to many major shopping centres all over the world?

Even when it's bad, just follow the security guards flashing torches and you're parked in a couple of minutes - they've got it pretty well sussed. I can't vouch for motorcycle parking.

A cement truck would do the trick for sure but more fun would be the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), which we all know the Humvee, it might grab the guards attention but what the hell, fully loaded the Fortuners from BKK would also be in the run.

There are currently two entrances at the side. When a car goes in the front entrance and parks on the same level, all other cars have to wait for it to reverse into a space before they can move forward. Cars outside are also stuck because there isn't enough room to go past and reach the rear entrance.

Another problem is using the upper floors. Okay going up but when you come out, you run into the cars coming in and going down to the basement parking or exit. I was stuck for 40 minutes trying to come down that spiral. Never again.
