Was at Villa yesterday. The staff I spoke with said maybe it would be another one or two months before it closes. They weren't sure. It seemed like some floor space was already fenced off.Bristolian wrote:Shopped at Villa this morning. The staff confirmed that this branch will close at the end of this month due to lack of custom. The new Venezia Shopping complex

Re: The new Venezia Shopping complex
I agree Desperate Dan, when I went there it was very slow, many stores were halfway built and then probably decided it's not worth it. The build quality is just horrible, they seem to have used the cheapest labor and parts possible. Floor is already cracking in many areas, the Gondola area has paint chipping off and is full of green colored water, the railings look about 5 years old already. One of the doors to the inside air conditioned shops would not even open properly it was scraping the floor. When you use cheap labor and parts, that's what you get. There are no shortcuts in life.... I say the entire thing will be closed some point in 2015. Don't know how it can possibly survive..

FN Factory Outlet opposite the Sheraton has a toy section located at the back on the left side of the complex.

Indeed it does, got some absolute bargains there yesterday. Not a huge selection but for the 5 minutes or so of play that they'll get you can't go wrong.

In reading about the state of the New? Venezia, I thought that the words NEW was
not the current description of the complex. I wonder if Russia will be looking like
this complex, or is it already looking like that? I am glad I got some pictures
during my one and only visit, that I will be taking.

Venezia may be is an attraction for (Thai) people who will never see Venezia in origin. But nothing for people who know....

Priceless - LOLprcscct wrote:If you put that sign in any rural Walmart parking lot in the States, you would have a crowd gathered within minutes. The local force would probably call the Highway Patrol, the Mayor and maybe a Priest. Channel 7 News would be there with sexy Loretta the breaking news reporter, and assuredly a sky chopper filming all. The KKK could indeed show up and burn it to the ground, then everyone go about their business.

A pity that the business model for Venezia does not see mto wrk, or that they did not define a workable business model. An area with shops, bars and restaurants North of HH with a sustanible basis makes it more attractive for farangs to live there. Now it sounds like it will not survive.

I can't see many business models where you have to rely on the public having to pay for little more than shopping succeeding.

I visited once, for you 50 baht you were given a token for which you could cash it in for shooting the pellet guns.

.......agreed. It begs the question whether the project has been scoped too big at the outset for the available local
buying power. I was kind of hoping for it to survive though.
