Is there a tourist slump in Hua Hin/Thailand?
Re: Is there a tourist slump in Hua Hin/Thailand?
I agree with oakdale160; mostly Scandinavian and from the U.K. (mainly England) Both make up the majority of tourists, part timers, and expats. Part timers retired are primarily Scandinavians, mostly 3 or 4 months during the winter, Brits are on/off shore workers with a local address and full time expats.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

^ agree. Also big rise in Findlanders. Residents/long term stayers in my condo are about 50% Dutch and German, 30% Sweden/Norway, 5 % Brit and the rest Thai. Condo ownership? Gotta be Thai 80% ish. I'm a resident but not an owner (He's Irish)
No stats though so just my observations and pool talk and will happily be corrected by the more knowledgeable on this forum

I notice that there are quite a few Australians living in Hua Hin as well and working back home doing fly in, fly out contracting in mining and related industries.

So quite a few Scandinavians, a fair number of Brits, a reasonable scattering of Dutch, a few Australians, Americans, Germans, French........in other words, a right mixed bag!!

Yes quite a mixed bag, but in mid winter, scandis ( Swedes, Danes, Norwegians) are over40%.

Very good - looks like I'll be contributing to many different economies if/when paying out losing golf side bets! I'm a little surprised that there's not more Aussie tourists (FIFO workers I totally understand), as HH is being featured more regularly in the local golf scene as a standout destination. That said, as an Aussie myself I'll be glad for the more international mix.

Tend to agree Billy 70. Prices in Australia are through the roof and lifestyle not so great - ie, work long hours, get taxed high, etc. But I've rented out my unit and can live comfortably and peacefully here in Hua Hin. I think more and more foreigners will look at Hua Hin as a great alternative
