I'm not quite sure why the number of posts I have made has any bearing on the substance of my argument.
Quite simple actually. If you had just the one or two posts and made that comment about CCTV being a bad thing, people would assume you're just a troll trying to get a reaction with a ridiculous statement.

The fact that you have many posts mean that you aren't a troll and actually believe what you say regarding this matter.

Ah, well that's clearer then. I think.

And yes, I believe the evidence about the lack of effectiveness rather than the tired rhetoric spouted by the likes of the BBC and the Daily Mail. I mean, the former carried a story once showing how effective CCTV really was because it clearly showed the face of someone allegedly stealing a woman's handbag on a train station.

CCTV not prevented the attack, and of course, it was hidden in the small print that perpetrator had not been caught :banghead:

Of course CCTV doesn't entirely prevent a crime, but with CCTV I'd venture a guess that there's a 90 percent better chance of someone being arrested for it.

Does anyone know of any cameras in H.H. accessible to the public online?

Example from my hometown:
http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/webcams/banff.asp
And eight different views can be selected with the same camera.
Great!

There are people serving long terms of imprisonment in the UK whose conviction depended to some extent on cctv evidence. I mean murder, terrorism offences, and so on.
CCTV does work.

I tread that anybody having a busy day in a UK city, going to work, out for lunch visiting a shop and having a pint is likely to be caught on CCTV 20+ in a day.
