Hua Hin to get it's own walking street?

Post by NOKYAI »

I read on an advert for a restaurant for sale (mums I think) that there was to be a walking street created from there to "the harbour".
Anyone heard any details about this?

Probably just a sales gimmick... by the way, there's going to be a paved bike path directly from the lots I have for sale there to the beach... :P :naughty:
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I just wondered if this linked up to a comment by the owner of the German resteraunt on the walk towards the tourist police, who said his lease wasn't being renewed as the whole corner including ' the dark side' ( cat bar/ disco, red Indiana, karaoke bars) was being demolished to make a food court.

HH could do with a few pedestrian only streets at least of an evening, having to dodge cars and motorbikes is a nightmare. Even Night Market has damn motorbikes going through the pedestrians.

Not sure that would be a good thing as currently HH has a certain charm about it and that may be lost with a "Walking Street"....wouldn't want another Pattaya!!

I guess it would supposed to be more like the Walking Street in Chaing Mai, than the one in Pattaya!

And here we are 7 months after the original OP.
Soi Bintabat is a 'walking street' after day becomes night. Soi 80 is now a walking street on Wednesday nights.
Bintabat needed it a lot, being as narrow as it is. The folks on Soi 80 seem to be quite happy with the experiment.

Is it the entire length of Soi 80, or is there some sort of vehicular access to the homes behind?

I wish the other streets around Bintabaht area also would become "Walking Streets" after dark. They are just as narrow as Bintabaht.

The 'walking only' part starts pretty well the entire length. The access to the railway soi is blocked off.
The very first 'cross over' alley is left open and up to now some army-looking guys -- I think they are cadets -- have been stationed there letting vehicles through to the parallel side of Soi 80. This of course has caused the obvious: the back side of Soi 80 (which is 100% devoid of any bars) has become a big parking lot on Wednesday evenings. The 'walkers' hardly care where they park and can often been seen completely blocking residents from getting into their own townhouses.
I just hope it will stay Wednesdays--only.

Poonsuk is used as a rat run to dodge the traffic lights, and you constantly get fat 4x4s forcing their way down there.. - a night time width restriction that was tuk tuk friendly, (so delivery trucks can access during the day) - would be really helpful..
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

And what about Binta walking street. Ask bar owners if they benefit of this experiment. NOTHING.
