Red flags were flown on Thursday on Hua Hin beach by hotels and resorts warning tourists against swimming in the sea due to high waves, strong winds and high tide.
Winds were stronger than yesterday and will remain so for the next couple of days as cyclone is forming south of Tonkin Bay off Vietnam, according to the Weatherman, its epic centre is slowly moving toward the Gulf of Thailand.
Deck chairs which used to dot the beach have mostly disappeared as operators moved them deeper inland as most beaches were inundated with sea water.

Re: Red flags fly on Hua Hin beach warning against swimming in the sea
I've had a foot problem, which has kept me off the beach for over a week. Last night, much to the delight of my dogs, I returned.
The beach felt very fresh to walk on with very firm sand everywhere. However, sea conditions were quite rough. It was dark, but there were plenty of Thais in the water (Thais prefer to swim when the sun has gone), obviously quite oblivious to any red flags that weren't visible in the dark.
Maybe they need to think of something better suited to warn about nighttime swimming other than invisible flags.
