Hua Hin water supply disruptions?

Post by nellyp »

It seems that we have no water being piped into our tank, so we have to get it filled. My wife tells me that there is a pipe broken somewhere and it is affecting Hua Hin and prachuap. Can anybody give me more details? This could get expensive, and i would like to know if anyone knows about it being repaired. It seems nuts that I have to fill my tank at my own expence because they are not fixing the pipe

Cheers

We live just north of the town centre and have recently had no supply but it wasn't for very long so I'm not sure if it's the same problem that you have.

I'm a bit of a cynic here at times and over the years I don't know how many times we've called the water board about a lack of supply and have been told each and every time that a pipe was broken. It could be that that's the case but I can't help thinking that it's a convenient excuse and that maybe water is being rationed - at least some of the time.

the water board sells water to private companies at a higher cost than it sells water to you and sometimes they run short but you can always get water from the private companies. you have earned your cynicism.
just another example of greed and corruption in the los.

Just a thought nellyp, a few years ago I had a problem with the supply to our house, found the problem was the inlet filter in the water meter was blocked solid with crap. Are your neighbours also having problems?

^ I think just about every place in Thailand is plagued with that problem. It seems that maintenance crews who dig to repair pipes have little supervision, and they appear to be Cambodian or Burmese workers. They dig, separate a piece of pipe while all along loose dirt is falling into the hole they dig. When finished, they simply fill the hole in and leave. No thought to capping the pipe ends when open, or cleaning the debris out of pipe ends before they close them. Subsequently people's meter filters get clogged up to the point of no flow whatsoever. I can't count the times I've watched all this unfold in my area. :banghead: Pete

NellyP, I believe you live in one of the La Vallee's on Pala U road, if so we have regular disruptions of water supply as our feed comes direct from Pranburi via the bypass road. I had three days with no water this week. You just have to learn to live with it and cut down on use when there is no supply.

I was at a friends house a couple of days ago. They are affected by this latest outage. They were told it was a major pump that had gone down near the dam, and water would be out until at least today.

Emr, it will not be too long before there is no water at all. Another month or so regardless of broken pipes!

Just been with a friend who lives more down Pranburi way and he's been without water for 6 days and counting. He confirmed that it was to do with a pump or some such at the dam.

Why should 1 pump out stop the supply to half the bloody town? Do they only have 1 pump, or only one way to move the water? It is damn ridiculous! What happens if there is a big fire some place in town? The appliance trucks only carry a limited amount of water in their tanks.

For me it comes under the same heading as the iffy electricity supply, floods, stray dogs, lawlessness on the roads, rubbish dumped wherever it is convenient, and probably the same with Big Boys poo trucks! :banghead:

Really, seems only a few effected by water shortage, maybe time you left LOS, seems nothing is good for you here now.
