Demolition of restaurants + shops in Poon Suk road
Re: Demolition of restaurants + shops in Poon Suk road
We use those restaurants all the time when we are in town and they are very good. If anyone finds out where they have relocated to can they update this thread.

Moon Smile &Platoo (Strange name) has to be one of the busiest restaurants inHH, in terms of % seat occupancy

Couple of people told me yesterday that all properties will be demolished as far the "Community House" next to the playground and the area will be used for mobile eating establishments that will be removed each night.
These resteraunts were very popular I know, but a pain in the arse trying to walk past them at busy times due to their encroaching tables and chairs on the pavement, maybe this lead to their demise.

Platoo in Thai means mackerel fish, so not really strange. (By the way there's a large Platoo restaurant up the road towards Cha-am next to the Novotel).oakdale160 wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2017 7:32 am Moon Smile &Platoo (Strange name) has to be one of the busiest restaurants inHH, in terms of % seat occupancy

Hopefully! Putting up small retail units and pulling them down again seems to be a hobby in HH. One time around 2000 or so a similar row of single storey units was erected opposite Euro Bakery and soon demolished to make way for a hotel.
BTW the name 'Bam Bams' was adopted when baby BamBam arrived. Did they ever have a Pebbles as well?

I guess that one of the things tourists to Thailand want to experience is street food! The other thing Thailand is famous for they can see by 'rubber necking' as they walk down Binta....
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!

I too remember these places as just stalls that were covered over with canvas at the end of each day. That would have been 2003 ish. More recently I ate at the Nana one a few times when I was in town in February. I noticed that the very tall thai lady who used to own the pop up bar between the Chinese temple and the Hilton was running one of these near the Sweden restraunt.
The meals I had at Nana were very good and reasonably priced. There was another one which was so busy they were handing menus to people who were queuing in the street. They specialised in the theatrics of the sissler, which was entertaining.

Back 16 yrs. ago, stalls, no toilets, we went pissing inside temple. At that time doors remained open.

Clear the street food off the streets, clear the bar girls out of the bars. Good policy Thailand! VN will help you relocate all those annoying tourists.

you really are an ---optimiste. Are you assuming that there is a logical urban planning type of reason for the demolition and future for the site???

Logical, maybe not. Does Thai logic exist ? But there must be a reason.oakdale160 wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 3:05 am you really are an ---optimiste. Are you assuming that there is a logical urban planning type of reason for the demolition and future for the site???
So I hope to read soon something more logic and serious on this forum, instead of suppositions.
