Regarding the houses on the front, I've had cause to visit Victor Guest House a few times recently. This is a series of original preserved old houses, modified for use as a guest house. Inside the substantial grounds it is really like stepping back in time. I find it fascinating.
Originally developed by a Dutch couple Anne-Marie and Gertien. Anne-Marie was a builder back home and did much of the work. They sold to the young guy early 2000's and had the top 2 floors of a big building overlooking the pier, roughly where Buff Bill moved his place to. There was a huge roof space they wanted to turn into a roof garden restaurant but were refused permission because the top floor of the Hilton overlooked it.

Power of money. About 20 yrs. ago when Hilton bought this hotel from Melia, they asked for the closure of Soi Binta, because it was not suitable for this high standard hotel and luckily nothing happened.

Just walked past Poonsuk Plaza, further down from the temple on the other side of the road. Renovation work is going on and there is a large banner announcing Moon Smile & Platoo - open soon but no dates.

Are they taking over the whole of that plaza? That would be a huge restaurant.

Bar complex is pretentious, some bars and many pool tables.

I'm talking the (ex?) bar complex between Johnny 56 and Blue Monkey.

Sorry, I'm a non-drinker, so rarely go that way after dark.

Yes that's it, it never took off, because people like to be in a bar with life, seeing people walking. In this small soi nothing happens.
