Electricity and water bills

Post by Don East Stand »

Hi apologies if this has been covered previously and I'm sure it probably has - but I can't narrow the search down below 751 possibilities  :cuss:

Anyway, I'm keeping an eye on a friends place and there is an electricity bill and a water bill to be paid. I went along to the 7/11 and they told me, "sorry, no water" and then they indicated that the electricity bill was too late to pay at 7/11. I guess there must be some time limit on the bill for paying at 7/11

So, question is, where can I pay the electricity bill and the water bill here in Hua Hin?

I usually just pay our own electricity and water bills to our juristic person so I've not had the problem previously, and my friend's place doesn't have a juristic person.

Your help as always will be greatly appreciated

Hi DES

Pay electricity bill on the same side as Lotus Shopping Mall about 800 mts before where the cars make an U-turn from the other side, and the water bill when you follow the main road until the first red light and turn left about 500 mts turn left.

My experience with 7-11 everywhere here is that they won't accept a bill for payment on the last day listed as the due date, or any bill that is over the due date. In most places you only have 7 to 10 days from the issue date to pay for water and electric. Pete

Thanks icebear, Can you just clarify, are your directions coming from the North i.e. Cha-Am/Bangkok or from the South i.e Khao Takiab/Pranburi?

Also is there a name above the shop/place to help?

Thanks

Don

Farang's got the map sorted out.
Don, if you look at the bottom of the electricity bill, below the bar code, there will be two between dates. The last date is up to when a 7-11 will let you pay there for an extra 10THB.
After that, you'll have to pay at the office indicated above and you'll generally get another seven days until they disconnect you.
The water board are normally more lenient as the amounts are generally lower (unless you've got a big swimming pool and/or big garden). We've been three months behind with ours before simply because we weren't here at billing time, forgot or whatever. We nearly got cut off once, but as said, that was after three months in arrears at less than 100THB a month.

That small road into and around the water supply office is one way if you are driving. Also limited parking as there always seems to be some function in progress whenever I go there!
Warning: watch out for the STUPID door handle on the entry to the office. It WILL bite you!
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

There will be someone responsible for reading the meters. Find out who it is and they will collect every month for the water if govt. Electric as others have stated is easiest paid at the office. Never managed to pay it in any 7/11. They just look at me like I am holding a bag full of explosives and start talking to 15 members of staff that I did not know existed as well as any customers that happen to be in the shop at the time.

Seven days is a VERY short time, isn't it? In the US you can be at least a month late. By the time your second bill arrives (and you haven't paid the previous one), then you need to call them and tell them "Sorry, I can't pay" and they'll give you an extra few weeks or help you arrange a payment plan. A week seems pretty unforgiven, doesn't it?

Well, you just need to pay on time I guess

I've forgotten in the past, but the disconnect man came around to the house so I was able to pay then, although it did result in a 100 penalty. So, now when we get out bill, I add on 100 baht, and then I pay on time and use the extra hundred baht to buy two ice cold Changs :thumb:
