Cattery/Cat Kennel?

Post by Noz »

Anybody know of a cattery/cat kennel in Hua Hin where I can leave our cat for a week when we go on holiday at the end of January?

He's less than 1 year old, sleeps inside in the evening and is very used to (and very much enjoys) human company. We were letting him roam free outside (as previously he couldn't escape the property walls) but now he's getting bigger and discovering new escape routes so he can go wandering, so we don't really want to leave him to his own devices, even with someone feeding him every day.

Any recommendations? All I've found so far is this one:

Thanks for any pointers

Our dog goes to kenneleuropa and he is very well looked after. The cattery is well away from the kennels so you should have not worry about that.

Hi Noz,

We have used this kennel / cattery too. For our dog and cat. Good service especially for the cat because of the play area adjoining the cattery. Lots of space for the dogs to run around too.

You can also look at the "pet hotel" situated on the entrance road to The Holiday Inn in Cha Am. (Pets strictly allowed only in pet resort loacted within the resort. 11 AC rooms available, reservation required) we used this pets hotel when we first arrived our cat didn't want to come home!

Thanks to all the above for the replies. Kennel Europa is looking like the favourite so far, although I'd prefer something a bit closer to or in Hua Hin, if possible. The vets on the canal road will stick your cat in a box for 300 baht a day but that doesn't sound too good and I've read some horrible reports about that place (on here). I was thinking about trying the new Kasetsart University Veterinary Hospital, in case they offered anything? Clutching at straws maybe. Does anybody know? I can't even find a contact number - all I get are references to Rafael Nadal planting trees there last year!

Looks like Kennel Europa for the moggy then. I don't recognise their address - 68/1 Moo 8 Rimaipatana, Cha-Am. Before I book, can anyone give me an idea of exactly where they are? Thanks.

They do a pick-up and drop-off service for 500 baht each way if you want.

I'm not sure of their exact location, but they're the other side of the main Phetkasem Highway, in the area where I used to live. They are North of Silpakorn University and towards the mountains.

I guess if you give them a call, they could give you more precise instructions.

Good luck, and I hope your precious moggy has a nice holiday too. :D

Thanks VS. Will check out the university location via Mr Google. I have both emailed the kennel and filled in their webform with no reply, so will call tomorrow. The plan was to drop off the feline one en route to Bangkok, if it's not too out of the way, and if we can find an amenable taxi driver. Apparently there are some superstitions about cats in cars!

I was reading your request about cattery for your cat. Did you manage to find a suitable place for your animal. I am interested as I too have cats and will be looking for a well run establishment for them when I require to leave the country on holiday. Any feedback you can give will be greatly appreciated. I am following up on all the leads stated in the suggestions you have already received.

In the end, we didn't the like the idea of our cat being cooped up for a week, regardless of the box size or how often they were let out to roam. He was still very young at that time and would have been very scared. So the owner of our rented house came here every day to feed and play with him and that seemed to work fine.

Hi Noz

Thanks for replying to me, very much appreciated. I will check out the Europa Cattery and if I am happy with them, then I will board my cats there. Rest assured Europa will have to be first class before I am happy as my animals are used to being pampered! I can let you know feedback for future use.

Thanks again.

Hi to all you guys who have boarded with Kennel Europa can any one of you explain to me where you found them? I have spent that last few days looking for them in the area of their address - found the area no problem but no luck apart from that, sent an email (returned unsent) and have tried calling (but still do not get through). I am now at a loss what else to do to find them. There doesn't seem to be any advertising signs for them in the area of their address. HELP!!

Did see some amazing scenery though so all was not lost. :)

They have been having phone problems recently try this number it is the one we called Lan on a couple of days ago 0819413978. If you still cannot find the place give Lan a ring and she will always meet you at Springfield and take you the rest of the way - no it is not an easy place to find. Good luck
