Haier Air Conditioners.. In adverse comments?

Post by bapak »

I have been seeking quotes for 24,000 BTU and 48,000 BTU Air Conditioners. Best prices I am getting are for Haier brand. I know very little about this brand, except that it is Chinese and apparently quite popular in USA. Comments appreciated.

Have them in the Chongqing office and have had zero problems. Paid more to have Mitsubishi units put in at home, but quite frankly should have stuck with Haier - service and parts way, way higher cost for Mits units. Of course, being in Thailand Haier is also an imported unit!.

PM me if you want specific info on Haier though..

Hi all my background is AC in the UK
from sales to contracting large scale projects
as well as designing , installating , services works...boring i know!
I have installed everything from small split systems
to large 500kW+Chillers as well as cold rooms and off shore works...

I also sold worked for Mitsubishi Electric selling their equipment
not to be confused with...Mitsubishi Heavy Ind..

Mitsy Elect was always the dearest along with Daikin....

In the UK for my pounds worth the big players are in order
Daikin
Mitsubishi Electric
Toshiba
Hitachi
Sanyo
Samsung
Mitsubishi Heavy
LG
Panasonic

Had one bad experience once with Haier a long time ago in the UK
and never used them again all 30 odd systems had issues...
this was a long time ago...and heard there ok nowadays...
But i never risked them again
Mind i installed loads of Toshiba last year...
as the price was always good...
But to be honest there not really a bad system nowadays...

Not missing the stresses of it all now that im living here mind!
Just trying to keep busy so my brain turns to mush !! hahaha

But over here places like Homepro 'size' the units up for you
but how qualified are these guys??? To select the Correct BTU
for you ??? ... They could be selecting a system for you that could be under sized or oversized.....I know its not rocket science...
but i would never do system selection blind...
if i had to put my name to it....

But hey what do i know :D

Hope everyones well...Four months in still loving it here

We have eight Daikin units in our house and no serious problems in four years (and they get a pretty good workout! :D ).
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Never, never ever I will even consider that brand again. Had stuff of them in China, socalled famous brand wth excellent service..
The most lousy household items I had in my life. Even free they would be too expensive.

Calling all AC Gurus.....im in hotel with a Haier AC unit, functionality is questionable versus other AC units ive experienced but i have a specific question....see attached photo why would the red light next to the power button occasionally go off/on??? to me those three lights are 1. power. 2. timer and 3. the compressor (ie when it senses the room is not cold enough the GREEN light comes on to show its calling for cold air(off when its cold enough etc etc) but why would the red light go on/off when the unit is ON?? thanks
