Burst water pipe

Post by kiffer »

I have a burst / leaking underground waterpipe that links the outside cistern to the house. Repairs involve breaking through the concrete patio, moving the large concrete slab and cistern on which it stands. Does anyone know of a capable outfit that could do the repairs? Hua Hin town.

My suggestion. Abandon the existing run and block it off to contain the leak. Then make a new run above ground. It will save you the hassle of breaking and then repairing the concrete and a LOT of digging. The new run may be a bit unsightly, but it will be accessible in the future should there be any other problems. A lot cheaper, too.

Been there.

Excellent suggestion; which leaves me only the plumber to find. Thank you.

Look for a Thai guy with a penknife and a bottle of glue. :thumb:

Thanks for pointing that out, but I had checked and the recommended Scot is unfortunately no longer available, while the other "recommendation" had been demoted to a "shit list".

If you have any kind of DIY ability, that Thai blue plastic piping is very easy to do yourself. Basically you need a hacksaw and a pot of cement to join it and that's about it.
I know plumbers are cheap in Thailand but I can do it myself quicker than I can find a reliable plumber!

Thanks for all the responses, especially the useful ones. In the event, job now fixed (and in the process found a Thai with a penknife - (see comment johnnyk) - didn't even need the pot of glue!).
