Problems with gas range

Post by StevePIraq »

Hi guys,
I have a Teka 4 burner gas range and have been having problems with it since new, it is no longer in guarantee.

My problem is each of the four burners burns too weak, the flame is white/yellow and it leaves loads of black soot residue on the bottom of pans following cooking

I have opened up the unit and each burner consists of what looks like a brass burner orifice which doesn't seem to be adjustable.

I have changed gas bottles and regulator, the gas works fine on a second range we have.

The following is stated for rectifying issues but I can't see anyway to do this.
Corrective Action
Increase primary air shutter.
Clean primary air shutter & adjust for proper air-gas mixture.
Replace burner orifice.

Anyone have any suggestions or can recommend someone to look at the unit for me, none of local suppliers have been any help so far

Sounds like it may have the wrong burner jets in it. Did you buy it here, or bring it with you?

Take a picture of it or take it out completely and compare it to what's on Homepro's display. You should be able to identify the right hob and then order the correct parts. You can also see if one of their 'engineers' will come out and check it for you. We had a bath problem. They lifted the bath out, repaired the pipework, then resealed it. 300 thb.

Steve
If you googled the fitting instructions there's a lot of info out there. In your case, the adjustment is behind the knob. You have to remove the knob(think you just pull it off), then use a screwdriver to adjust the air mixture. Put the knob back, voila!

Vince,
Many thanks mate, however it was not quite so simple. First had to remove all the top pieces then the knobs then the stainless steel drip plate only then could I find the adjustment screw. After tinkering a little then had to reassemble to test and low and behold the first burner was better, it was then a case of doing the same thing over and over again until I got the mixture rightish with all four burners.

Now I hope I never have to touch it again except top make bacon and eggs.

Glad you got it sorted out. No, not knowing which particular model you had, I was not able to be more specific. To tell you the truth, though, that would have been one of the last places I would have looked for the air shutter valve myself.
Second thing (in retrospect). You'll probably not have to look at it again as you did it yourself. Doubt if the local 'engineers' could have done a better job. :)
