New tip for pool cue

Post by Big Boy »

My son has been asked to play in the local pool league. As a result, he has dug out my old cue (must be 30 years old) which I used to play with in the Plymouth leagues many years ago. The cue is like new, but needs a new tip. Can anybody tell me where to buy a new tip please?

If you don't get any positive response elsewhere, you could try Bobby's Bar on 102.

I know the shop you mean, but it isn't there any more. However, I knew it had moved to Market Town. I'd never considered the shop for such an item, but I went along yesterday, and they had plenty to choose from - 29 Baht for 2.

My son's girlfriend went there for him also, not knowing that I'd already bought the tips. Yes they did them at 2 for 30 Baht (so about the same cost). Of course, being a girl doing a man's job, she bought the wrong size :D

The cue was used in competition for the first time in over 20 years last night. My son had his butt kicked :D.

Is he playing pool or billiards?....and while I'm at it, there isn't any difference in the cues, is there?

He's playing pool.

I think traditionally pool cues are much thicker at the business end, but I always found you got better control with a thinner snooker style cue, which is what my son is now using ............. badly.

And as for a tip concerning cues--- always keep it well chalked.

I don't know. I'll ask when he gets home from football.

Waking up an old thread. Does anyone know if Master Cues has closed, or moved? I used to get my cue re-tipped there. The girl did an excellent job. I need a new tip quickly!

The post above is rather old, but just yesterday I walked up and down Soi 88 looking for Master Cue ... I also needed a good cue tip job.
Got nowhere by looking but popped into a bar which had a pool table in the back and asked the bartender about Master Cue. She pointed directly across the street and said that Master Cue used to be there.
But Master Cue is gone now ... shuttered up and carrying a large 'For Sale or Rent' sign, and has been for some time now.
Just one more reason why I love living in Thailand ...
