Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Anyone seen a Memory Foam Mattress Topper here? I've seen the regular ones at Market Village and Winner, but not the memory foam.
I'm looking for something like this:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Beautyrest-Be ... r/19589823
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Spa-Sensation ... s/10924589
Sometimes I think they could replace all of Market Village with a single Walmart and we would have a single place where we could get everything we want.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Memory Foam Mattress Topper
I bought a couple from the big (EN?) outlet store opposite the Sheraton. Not cheap, but they are soooo comfortable. Only problem is now finding it very difficult to want to get out of a bed of a morning.
Re: Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Thanks for that MLS, will check there when I am at that end of town. I'm assuming you mean "FN" or "Fly Now" Outlet mall. When you say "Not cheap", do you mind giving me a range?
Anywhere else, anyone?

New shop at the top (Petchkasem Road) end of Soi 41. Beds, bedding, mattresses, linen etc.. Only open a week or so, I've not been in yet but plan to look soon.

Re: Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Hi, just looked at the receipts from - yes, I did mean the FN outlet - where I bought two king-size mattress toppers a couple of months apart last year @ THB 5,600 and THB5,800 respectively. We had recently bought expensive new mattresses, which we discovered were way too firm, so this seemed a much cheaper option than binning the mattresses and buying new ones. No idea what what memory foam toppers generally cost but really happy with these ones and loving the comfort.
Re: Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Thanks so much MLS. That is expensive but one can't put too high a price on a good night's sleep!

Memory foam...I would stay clear of it It's so darn hot
Re: Memory Foam Mattress Topper
I tend to agree but my experience is only with pillows. I bought one when searching for the "perfect pillow" and although very comfortable, you can indeed feel the heat build up under your head and it finally gets to a point where it wakes you up. At least I do. PeteSiani wrote:Memory foam...I would stay clear of it It's so darn hot

Uh oh, that could definitely be a show stopper for me, but I have to do something as I haven't had a good night's sleep in a long time (in the bed, now I resort to sleeping in a laz-y-boy chair when I'm desperate for some rest) and it is because the bed included in our rental has a mattress that is just too hard. I'm a side sleeper and this matress hurts my shoulders, hips and back. I wake up from a night of tossing and turning feeling like I've gone a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson...
Needless to say, being sleep deprived is not good for me, the missus, anyone else who crosses my path and probably even affects my posts on here. I've got to find a solution and would prefer one that doesn't cost a fortune or involve buying the landlord a new mattress.

I have a thick lambswool underlay on top of the mattress in Bangkok. It is the best bed in Thailand! If I am staying overnight anywhere else I toss and turn all night. A lot of Thai beds are just too damn hard, and I am not sure what you are referring to would help much.
I bought mine from Australia, but I have seen them at a furniture show in Bangkok. Not sure just where you may find one, but probably at one of the upmarket malls in Bangkok.

If it's affecting your sleep that much, an investment in a good mattress might be worthwhile - as you infer, you can't really put a price on a good nights sleep?hhfarang wrote:Uh oh, that could definitely be a show stopper for me, but I have to do something as I haven't had a good night's sleep in a long time (in the bed, now I resort to sleeping in a laz-y-boy chair when I'm desperate for some rest) and it is because the bed included in our rental has a mattress that is just too hard. You my sympathy - I've often been subjected to these Thai style mattresses when staying in lower end hotels.hhfarang wrote:I have to do something as I haven't had a good night's sleep in a long time (in the bed, now I resort to sleeping in a laz-y-boy chair when I'm desperate for some rest) and it is because the bed included in our rental has a mattress that is just too hard.
Maybe a little more expensive, but wouldn't it make more sense just to buy a new mattress? I assuming you intend staying there for a while, and I doubt whether your landlord would mind if you put it to him as an improvement.

I had the same problem a few years back, ended up buying a new mattress, at first I just stored the landlords mattress against a wall, but it always seemed to be falling over or in the way.
Figured the best place to store it was on the bed, just put my new mattress on top, made the bed a bit higher (8 inches or so) but was also very easy to get in and out of bed.

Me again, for what it's worth...
I once bought a very pricey and supposedly cool lamb's wool summer-weight duvet in Sydney and found it way too hot.
It was only when I saw the post above re the heat issue that I suddenly remembered the memory foam pillow I bought a few years ago. I did find I'd be waking up with a sweaty head and neck so the pillow was promptly abandoned. What I'm saying is the fact that I've completely forgotten about the heat bit until now, which shows that the mattress topper we've been happily slumbering on every night when in HH for the past 18 months in all seasons doesn't cause us any problems at all. We always sleep in a cool room but we'd definitely have noticed any difference straightaway.
hhfarang, we're not in HH rfor a while but if we were I'd invite you to a sleepover in our spare room to test
