Paying utility bills in absentia

Post by hhfarang »

Hey guys and gals, we still have a home in another part of Thailand that will be unoccupied soon. I remember hearing that some snowbirds made some automatic arrangements to have their water and electric bills paid in their seasonal homes in Hua HIn when they were not there. I will need to do this soon so can someone tell me how that works and what the Mrs needs to do while she is there this month to set that up.

Thanks in advance!

Hello young man:
I do that with the house in Hua Hin, and have done so for several years. It was set up at KBank by my daughter, as both the water and electric are in her name. I believe that is a requirement. It was simple enough to set up, despite the ignorant bloke in the bank saying that it could not be done for the water. It has worked without a problem since setting it up.

Thanks Nereus, I think our current account is with another bank. Do you think they all do that?

We set up auto payments with Kasikorn. A bit of running back and forth but not too bad.

The lady at the bank warned us that there may be problems. So far, one elec payment, went smooth.

One thing that I should have added: when you do it set up internet banking at the same time.

That way you can keep tabs on it after Donald changes all the US rules. :rasta:

We pay phone, watr and electric by direct debit through bank ayutthaya (krungsri). Done this for 10 years and never had a problem. If i recall correctly you need to start at the utility office who will issue their form for direct debit. Then take the form to the bank to set up the payment.
