Making a new Leather Belt

Post by Terry »

One of my sons has a favourite leather belt which he has worn out.
He still likes the buckle

Question
Does anyone know where we can get a new belt made (In Hua Hin) with the old buckle?

There is a leather smith on Naeb Kehardt Alley between Soi 55 and Soi 57. Closer to Soi 57. On the ocean side of soi. Small shop, he makes shoes, boots, etc. I have a had a belt made with same buckle. I think 1000 Baht.
Cheers.

Yes, they replaced a zip in a leather jacket for me a few years ago, they did a very neat job and although I don't remember what they charged, it wasn't a lot.

Many of the market stalls will do it as well - a hell of a lot cheaper as well

Agree with Bigboy. Find a suitable belt in a market stand and have them change the buckle.
I've done it a couple of times.

Cheap 'leather' isn't really leather and will probably last the best part of six months. Pay a bit more for the quality. Remember that the stalls are making at least thirty percent or more so they paid even less...

Tell them what you want, and they will provide the quality you need. I am of the larger variety, and likely to make a mess of cheap leather - the market stalls have been spot on with me.
