Hi all
Our estate currently have artesian water (but the well is dry) and HOPEFULLY going to Pranburi mains water. Unfortunately the pipe work in our estate is insufficient to run the water so will need to be replaced. My question is has this happened to other expats and if so how much did you have to pay to have it installed or did the estate pay for it.
Going to mains water
Re: Going to mains water
Who is going to replace the pipes? This happened at my house in Soi 6 several years ago. The water authority installed a new main, plus connection(our own house feeder), and the cost was around 800k Baht. Each house had to pay 35k, but you need to be sure the developer is not making himself an early Christmas present.raeside3 wrote:Hi all

May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
Re: Going to mains water
It depends on how many houses the cost is divided by. We have just had it done for 7 houses and the pipe work was about B17,000 per house, I think. Then you had to pay for water meters which you have one outside and one inside your property at a staggering B4000 each.
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!

Back in May 2010, Mother In Law had 3 new water meters nicked from outside new shop houses.NOKYAI wrote:It depends on how many houses the cost is divided by. Back then, she paid Baht 1900 each, including fitting, to get them replaced and that price also included having a big, 10mm steel lockable cover, over them.
Don't quote me, but I think a standard water meter costs around Baht 1400-1600 now.
Why do you have to install 2 meters? Have the Thais figured out how to run an electric supply through a water meter now!
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
Re: Going to mains water
Had Pranburi water installed a couple of years back and it depends on how many residents the costs are shared between.
The road is cut and the main laid, it is then concrete filled. Next the meter installer comes at an extra cost and digs it up, installs the meter (only one outside) and leaves a void which you have to fill.
It used to be double pricing for Falang but I actually got a refund when the junta took over.
I hope your project has water tanks, I copy below a mail sent last night to a neighbor who had been away for a month.

You missed all the fun being away, the supply has been sporadic at times. Pranburi water have been cutting supply with the excuse that it is pipe repairs but many suggest it is the water supplied to the new luxury lagoon housing compound at the south end of town.
Can not remember how many liters/day but their bill is 200,000/month. It got so bad that a complaint was made by normal residents on Pranburi water and police investigated the legality.
Mostly your tank will fill overnight but Wednesday seems to be worse where the pool is toped up, had to tell gardener not to water last Wednesday as we were down to 1/4 of a tank.
Marianne suggests that if we notice the tank is not filling please shoot off a quick mail, it would help everybody, pool man says that he understands it to be an ongoing problem. At least we have a tank to use if careful, I feel sorry for those on direct supply.
