Open a small lock without a key.

Post by Pagey »

Anyone know someone who can open a small lock without a key ?

I will ask at a key cutting service tomorrow to see if they can but in the meantime anyone else had it done anywhere ?

Why not just drill it?

I know, but can you replace it? Is it an embedded lock in a cupboard or box? You didn't say in your original post. If your locked thingy is portable, you could take it to a key cutting person. We used one many moons ago who had a stall near the railway crossing just south of the train station. Most key cutters have a bit of a knack for picking locks.

But if you don't have the key anyway, how will you lock it?

Cos I'm presuming if a key cutter/locksmith can open it they can also cut a key. :thumb:

Wow - that sounds like a huge job for Thailand. Good luck, and I hope they can do it for you.

Please share if you find somebody with that skill. It would be a good contact to have.

After much thought, this is my best suggestion.

I'm sure it's nothing that a well placed screwdriver and a good hammer blow can't rectify

I seem to remember reading a post about someone who lost their motorbike key and a guy came along and within minutes had fashioned a replacement key, that's why I thought it would be possible.

The lock in question belongs to a Thai friend, I was just trying to help and fellow forum members normally have an answer to everything. :thumb:

I went to a key cutter on railway road on the right side just past Soi 88. His English was very limited but he followed me to the house and opened the lock in a few minutes for 150 Baht. The impression I got was he could replace the lock if we wanted to lock it again so that decision is down to the Thai owner.

Probably not someone you'd want knowing where you lived though!
