Why would removing and replacing the motherboard battery wipe the computer? Never mind answering - it won't.
Sorry but removing CMOS battery on a motherboard will reset BIOS to default , fact :tsk:
That's not what you said. "If the motherboard battery be aware this will wipe computer , so make back up copies of files before attempting this." Resetting the BIOS will not "wipe the computer" whatever that means.

Made it to DHL Express today.
Didn’t have to remove the battery but thanks for the warning Steve and everyone else for their advice.
Laptop hopefully en-route to Europe.
