Selling price of cds?
Selling price of cds?
Hello,
what do you think would be a reasonable asking price for cds in a charity bazaar?
Thanks for your input.
Kind regards,
Perla

Re: Selling price of cds?
250 sounds high for a charity bazaar (if we're talking used clothes, books, cds etc, where most of the shoppers will be people of low income themselves?). I would have though maybe 100 but just my opinion. Blu-ray DVDs higher I guess?
Re: Selling price of cds?
Hello,
thanks for the first suggestions!
So between 100 and 250 Baht would be reasonable?
Also buyers should be prepared to pay higher prices
in view of the fact that the sale would benefit
a charity, shouldn't they?
Looking forward to further input.

You probably need to look at what the bootleg DVD and CD sellers are charging, and be below their price.

Re: Selling price of cds?
Charity bazaars I have seen organised in the UAE are usually frequented by people who don't have much money themselves, so as I said above it's not reasonable to expect them to pay higher prices, IMO. If you're organising a bazaar for farang only then I suppose it's different (although not necessarily so!).
And charity dinners are different, people with a bit of cash should pay up for a good cause.

Dear 404cameljockey,
thanks for your knowledgeable advice.
I shall pass it on to the local charity.
Having to move I will donate heaps of cds & dvds & some books
that they will able to sell.
Kind regards,
Perla

Hello,
our Thai friend fears there might be a problem selling cds (They are all original, no bootlegs) because of the copyright.
Can you assuage her fears?
Thanks!

Re: Selling price of cds?
A rival forum to this had something about it 3 years ago. The mods here won't allow me to publish the link, but you can google 'selling second hand goods in thailand legal' and you should find some info. If you are worried then ask the police. Anyway, I just don't suggest you sell them in the street from a suitcase.
Re: Selling price of cds?
I think you'll find a similar discussion on this forum also - I think it was during the car boot sale phase.404cameljockey wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2017 3:00 pm A rival forum to this had something about it 3 years ago.

Re: Selling price of cds?
As others have said; you can't just expect people to pay more for something "because it's charity". Especially when you're talking about things such as CDs and DVDs that few people even want these days. I agree with 404CamelJickey; 100bt sounds about right; even then it's probably a bit on the high side.

Re: Selling price of cds?
Imho, dvd - doesn't matter original or copy - would not go for more than 50b each. If you pay 200 for three in MV, and 200 for four in some markets - used dvds would not sell for more.

Re: Selling price of cds?
Yeah, 40 to 50 THB per CD/DVD may likely generate sales, also given that it's sold at a charity event.
