Seeking fellow guitarists

Post by Randy Cornhole »

Hi,
fed up with playing with yourself!
I am a 42 year old English guitarist seeking likeminded others for social jams and the exchange of ideas.
I like all kinds of music from blues to rock.
Although I am no Eric clapton I like to think I can hold my own....!!!!
If you want to jam and don't have a guitar no problem I posess two of the buggers.
In fact if you have always wanted to learn I can set you off in the right direction for a beer or two.

Got myself an accoustic about 6 months ago, been pratting about trying to get to grips with it, not much success.

Any one now of any good sites to teach the basics, before all the bad habits stick for life.

Also a good book with cord structures and form would help, the only books I can find are in Thai, although they help a bit, pictures etc., being able to read the lessons might help.

Now where was I, oh yea, p - i - m - i - m(bugger :banghead: I mean) - a. OH BO**OCKS! Why won't that little pinky work.

I've found this site good for the basics, you can also get good tabs there:

http://www.guitarists.net/

I have a book with all the chords and scales in it that I found in Malaysia, its not bad, you can borrow it if you like.

Recently blew my speakers up and broke several strings trying to compete with the builders .... the builders won.

Not a player myself, just enjoy listening. If you guys ever want to jam in my place, your welcome. If your any good and the customers like it we could do a beer deal! Buksi i bet there are some great lyrics inside you relating to builders and their weapons of the mass destruction of silence! Could be a real blues classic just waiting to get out!

Without wanting to push this off topic, if you ever form a band why not call it 'The Beer Monsters'? :D I'd be perfect for lead vocals then....

Wanderlust, have been to karoake with you many times. I feel the band should remain accoustic only! I would agree with the name though.

I too have heard Khun Wander having a croon. I was a little more impressed. I have to point out though that I am deaf in one ear, tinitus in the other, was sitting at a table next to four screeching BGs and the song being sung was originally written for Johnny Rotten.

Gotta agree with this, however we do start off with the best of intentions and singing well. Just what is it that they put in Sangsom that completely trashes your voice anyway?

I'm guessing that this spelling is an approximation of how the Thais would say the word to describe my singing....croak

Making live music

Post by Martyn Hillery »

I know it has been a long time since your message but did I would like to know did anything develop?

I have just registered and sent a message looking for musicians of a certain age, which means 40 plus, to play some old blues stuff.

Would also appreciate your views on the local live music scene.
