I thought Pete lived in the Raong area - so he must be on night shift?

I'm not sure if it's a poisoned chalice being elevated to a Mod, Pete, but I'm sure you'll have the antidote.

A fine choice by the hard-working team that keep this forum running. When I look at some other Thai forums and see how some of the posts descend into utter vulgarity, or are overly-censored, I think this forum has got the balance absolutely right. Well done team, and well done Pete.

Thanks very much VS. Vulgarity is almost always the result of too much booze. However, it's happened on here before from the most meek and mild people. Every person has a moment from time to time.

I would have been gone long ago if this forum wasn't a level above, and the active members of an intellect that wasn't a step above. There's a struggle between two line complainers about everything, and people who offer up interesting dialogue when they can. I think in recent months the latter are beginning to prevail again.

This forum starting 15 years ago was social media before there was social media. As you recall we were sitting in our little Thai abodes struggling with dial-up modems, but still carrying on great conversations and banter for hour upon hour. At the time none of us were retired and had a lot of free time to my recollection.

My hope is that as more and more people retire to Thailand and Hua Hin, they'll realize that good conversation and sharing of their experiences will keep their lives meaningful and helpful to others.

Sorry Pete, no offence, but I'm not convinced this was a wise choice.

IMO a mod should be a longstanding member and regular poster who never has a cross word for anyone, makes positive contributions on a wide range of subjects, is always willing to help, never gets rattled or takes things to heart and displays an open-minded, friendly and warm-hearted on-line personality.

Oh, hang on a minute...

Thanks everyone. :thumb: I do have several dozen coffee mugs I bought at the local flea market DTM. I stack them next to my computer and use them to throw against the wall on a regular basis. The dogs live in fear and the family never seems to be here?  Pete

Well there goes the neighbourhood!
:neener:

Good job, Pete, I'm sure you'll do an outstanding job and have lots of fun at the same time although I will miss seeing that elusive golden chilli.

Great to see you in this role, Pete. This is one of the only two forums in Thailand I contribute to where cool heads tend to prevail. And where you have actually met many of the members in real life.

Hey there's a new sheriff in town. Good news Pete.
This is a great forum with much moderating done by the members so hope that means your job is mostly ceremonial.
