A "Race To 10" Private Board

Post by pdm3547 »

How about we have a private board for members over 300 posts (say?) to point out new members who are obviously "racing to 10"

I don't know about you, but I quite enjoy the banal, random comments that they post on d topics so that they can get to the night crawlers forum.

Yes, yes, I did it myself. But it was fun at the time and I didn't think you'd notice!

I can somehow handle the "race to 10" stupidity but if it were to be "race to 300", I don't think, I could take it. :D

Agree with Bamboo Grove!

To me it's irritating when members are answering general questions with something like: No, sorry I don't know, as if they were personally directed to them. If you don't know don't bother.

Less is more.

I don't enjoy them at all.

I'd rather have a private section where "race to 10" newbies (thankfully a minority) could all post their meaningless 1-liners together and get it over and done with.

I think T&Cs say that these first 10 posts should be "meaningful", but that is of course completely unenforceable.

I'd love to see the stats on how many people get to 10 posts, have a look at NC and then vanish from the forum never to be seen again!

Sadly this is the case for most of them, the theory behind the ten was to encourage new members to explore more of the board first and post there. It doesn't really work so we may lower the limit to prevent the pointless one-liners.

We have also experimented with private forums however the T&Cs were breached, we simply cant trust people with sensitive information that maybe posted in a private area.
