Here is one for the phone geeks,

Just got the galaxy s5 to replace my s3.

Like everyone else I have loads of passwords and things like bank numbers I need to transfer to new phone, the staff in
Shop were of no help.

Can I somehow download all my data onto the memory card and simply swap???.

Theres an ap for that... I believe it's called Samsung Smart Switch (I believe it uses a cloud rather than a memory card).

Some of my favorite podcasts have prior episodes online, but they're not free to download like the current ones. Didn't want to listen on a laptop, so I found the page on my smartphone. Pressed 'Listen'. Android offered me 2 options, a music player or download. Download worked.

I'm using the browser that came with an Android tablet from Acer, I don't know if it's part of Android or from Acer. I can do everything with it apart from one thing and that is copy URLs from the line at the page top. On a PC I would just highlight it and use CTL+C but on the tablet I can highlight it but then can't seem to then copy it, anyone any ideas?

Have you tried to go up and select copy from the EDIT button, rather than right click what you're trying to copy?

EDIT" Forget the "right click" as assume with a tablet you have no mouse. Try the EDIT button though.

Yes but copy isn't on the drop down list.

I've just found the answer on an Android forum, you have to tap the bar once to highlight it and then touch it again and hold your finger on it for a couple of seconds, then you get a bar with a copy function on it.
I found everything else intuitively on Android and never bothered reading any instructions!

Doing some searching all that I could find is reference to something called a "long press". This was specific to pasting when "paste" did not appear. Maybe the same for copy? Could find nothing else specific.

Yes,you could call it a long press, you wouldn't want to press too hard though as you might put your finger through the screen!
Actually I only bought this tablet for travelling but I use it pretty much all the time now as there isn't much that I can't do with it.

I bought a "world" Samsung Galaxy S4 last August in Bangkok which came with Android 4.2.2. I've been pressing Check For Updates since Kit Kat (4.4) was announced late last year yet the phone says no updates are available. Kit Kat started updating on S4 phones around the world in January.

My question is, what server is the phone trying to talk to? I have DTAC but unlike America, the cellular provider doesn't have anything to do with updates. If the phone falls back to a Samsung server, are they delaying updates to Thailand? The Samsung service center here in Hua Hin was less than useless, tried to tell me the phone only works in Slovakia!

I did try Cyanogenmod once on an older Motorola which ended in a brick, so I'm not going to go that route.

Thanks, but that's what I'm trying to avoid.

I'm looking for information on what happens under the covers when you click Software Update, and why there's nothing available in Thailand 6 months after it started rolling out around the world.
