:agree: I've been using it since GN's recommendation also.

It allows you to hide your location, and tell the cyber world you are posting from somewhere else. Particularly useful if downloading movies etc. Can also allow you access to sites blocked within Thailand.

OK, I've uninstalled Hola on my laptop, purely as it isn't working and I've been using it on my set top box to watch ITV etc for about 3 years now without any issues.

I've downloaded Betternet but it says I am browsing from Switzerland and to change it to the UK I need to upgrade to the Premium so any free VPN that will let me choose UK as my country to browse from ?

I didn't download Betternet, simply took it as a free add-on to Chrome. I can change to UK or US with 2 clicks whenever I wish.

I searched 'Betternet' in Add Ons in Firefox and it came up blank hence I downloaded it! Just searched Google and it shows as an add on in FF ! Obviously user error somewhere....

It really is easy to use - as a freebie, I think it's brilliant.

So was Hola :cuss:

ITV still saying I am not browsing from Europe, how do I change the country on Betternet ? Or maybe I can't in FF ?

Simply choose what you want when you switch VPN on.

FF doesn't give me that option I'm afraid, just on or off.

Switch to Chrome. I hated Chrome with a vengeance, but when FF threw a wobbler, it was the only sensible option. Within a day, I found it was as good as FF, and probably better.

If you want to keep FF, or a version of it, use Tor Browser - it is based on Firefox.

Firstly, thanks for all the help and info.

About a month ago I told myself to change to Chrome as FF kept locking and websites displayed 'not responding' so I had to constantly use Task Manager to close FF and re open it. However, the last week or so it has been mainly working OK so if it ain't broke etc.

Just tried Tor but it's not compatible with my version of FF apparently, and I've just checked and I have the latest version of FF, 52 I think. ????

I only need the VPN for the UK while I'm watching ITVhub on my laptop which I'm only doing until I manage to update the ITV player on my set top box as I normally just watch everything from there....

Anyways Soccer AM in just over an hour then footy so I won't need it until after the weekend. Maybe I will try Chrome when I get time.

Tor is a separate browser, it is not an add-on and does not affect your existing installation of Firefox, it is a skinnied down version of FF that runs along side your usual browser, just use it when you want to go anon on the web.

I'm a Chrome convert too. Got totally fed up with FF and the constant script errors even after updates. I'm still using Hola as my VPN and have not had any issues with it yet. I have downloaded Betternet but not tried it yet.
