3bb was out completely for me out Soi 102 way from Friday until Tuesday. I've ended up buying a sim for the iPad from True in order to get emails out. When calling 3bb I was told an engineer would be calling shortly. Never did!
When the connection came back on late Tuesday, the speed has been terrible. Getting most websites is taking an age and some are not loading at all. We're paying for the 15mps and speed tests WITHIN Thailand are good but any to a server outside Thailand is pretty terrible. As most of the sites I visit are not hosted within the country, the connection speeds are just not worth paying for any more. Teamed with 3bb's terrible service I am considering ditching them.

Does anyone use True internet here in HH and if so what is your opinion? They have a similar package available but I don't want to jump from the pan to the fire. I would like to get rid of 3bb as I have had many outages in the last year and speeds are more volatile than the thai stock markets!

I live on 102 as well and I am pretty happy with the 600Bt package, internet speeds fine with an occasional problem with UK websites

Billy Joe, I used 3BB for 2 years and despite some experts telling me it was crap, I continued. I was generally satisfied.

Just before the World Cup it started playing up (my TV is reliant upon internet). After several failed promises to fix it, they eventually told me they were too busy. Knowing that arguing was futile in Thailand, I had True installed the next day. It was only then that I realised how I had suffered.

As an aside, when I told 3BB I had installed True, they came to the house 3 times that day to fix it - they'd suddenly found time for me.

I pay (actually I've not been asked for one Baht yet) for the cheapest package. I regularly get download speeds in excess of 20 Mbps. I download movies in minutes now as opposed to an hour plus under 3BB.

It is such a transformation, its unbelievable.

What's the cost of your package BB? Can it be ordered by phone or website?

As posted in my VPN post recently I'm beginning to have doubts about 3BB

As I said, I've had it 3 months now and haven't paid a single Baht. I've been down to the shop 3 times, and they ask if I've received a letter. I say no, they say, "Can't pay." :? :D

I think its 100 Baht a month more than 3BB, although not 100% sure yet. It is well worth under 4 Baht a day for such an improved service.

Is True available throughout HH, I only say this because when I wanted to sign up for their Fibre Optic some 6 months ago, they told me it was not available away from Elephant Village ( and many more areas ) so out on Nong Plub Rd?

Well web speeds back to normal (fast) now, but a little annoying that there is no explanation!

Big Boy, is your True connection fibre optic or normal wire... and did you get the cheapest package? My annual subscription with 3BB ends next month and from your post I'm seriously considering a jump to True. I live near you but a bit further out so hopefully they service my area.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Yes, mine is their cheapest fibre package. The fibre network around here is widespread, so you should be OK.

You won't know yourself speed wise. When I saw the recommendation for the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel this morning, I thought I'd get it. It was down in 8 minutes, and my system is running quite slow this week. I've been downloading movies in half that time.

Definitely a case of not missing what you've never had, but now I've seen both sides of the coin, I definitely wouldn't go back.

Download 18 gigs this morning. Took about 4 hours with 3BB, 13mbit/1mbit. Download a torrent file using u Torrent. This is expected speed and is more than sufficient for me. Most of the downloads I do are much smaller and is quick to complete. I have been thinking about changing to fiber, but will stay with the adsl for now until the end of the year. I will check again this weekend to see how the Premier League streaming go. If it is as good as last weekend I have nothing to complain about :-)

You sure it's fibre optic and not the DOCIS/Cable (TV) service?

^ I get bombarded with TRUE adverts on our True TV, and ticker announcements of the outages for maintenance around the country. Each one reads "maintenance to our fiber optic cable network...." I'm assuming if they use fiber optic as an option to satellite dish in some areas, and their internet runs on the same lines. Pete

No, I'm not sure. However, when they were flood wiring the area, everybody was talking fibre - I even posted some pictures at the time because I was amazed they didn't have to physically join the wires - still haven't and mine works fine.
