FM Radio

Post by Davy B »

I have a Pioneer AV Receiver VSX-523 and have tried scanning for FM radio channels but it only finds one (96.25FM). I know there has to be more available that this. I have asked in several shops for an FM antennae and get strange looks - nothing unusual there - as I thought the puny 2 foot long one that came with the device was the problem. I have Surf102.5FM on my PC but the receiver cannot seem to trace it. Anyone have any ideas as to getting more use from the receiver as it is only being used as an expensive cd player!!!

I checked with Lazada before I posted earlier but there was nothing there that I thought would do the job. If I was in the UK there are thousands. I might end up getting someone to bring one over on their next visit.

Indoor TV antennas are usually good for FM radio as well. I bought a powered indoor digital TV antenna at Big C In Phetchaburi and it says for digital TV, analog TV and FM radio on the box.

FM radio frequencies fall between TV channels 6 & 7. A cheap TV antenna will do but an expensive one usually will not because they intentionally block out the FM radio frequencies to help minimize TV interference. Also be aware that TV antennas are directional when searching for a signal.
