Re: VCR Tape to DVD or Digital media
J.J.B....many thanks for the info.
I was hoping that since the player MB was describing was both a VCR player & DVD recorder, that recording from the VCR to DVD would be straightforward.
The VCR tape I have, played fine on an English bought VCR player (Sony I think it was)......although the tape was recorded in the USA.....(video footage of myself skydiving).
I'm not too bothered about the loss in conversion.
It'd just be nice to have the memory on my computer.
Thanks again.

Jack Sprat, I had missed the part about the macbine being a combined player/DVD recorder. It's also more likely this will be a later, multi-format machine - fingers crossed for you!

Did anybody find a solution please? I have some friends asking the same questions - they have a tape they'd like converting.

Hello BB,
No is the short answer.
I was waiting for Major Bloodnok to get back to me, re-machine he was checking up on, but he never did.
I'll keep my eye on this thread to see if anyone has any ideas.

Re: VCR Tape to DVD or Digital media
Is it just the one tape, BB? Is the content something that can't be obtained elsewhere (e.g. home video) and what format is the tape (e.g. NTSC vs. PAL)?

I think it's just one personal tape. I'm asking for a friend. I'll ask about the format (e.g. NTSC vs. PAL), but I doubt they'll know.

I have just the machine you are looking for, but............................
I have no idea where the power cord is, so you would have to buy one if you don't already one or two at home.
Also, it was given to me, and I myself have never tried to do any recording with it. It was only used as a DVD play in my kid's room for a while before being packed away.
The good news is that if there is anything wrong with it, I'm sure any of the local repair shops could get it sorted out for a few baht.
Anyway, you can have it if you want it. Just let me know if you are interested.

With the tape player you need an A/D converter. I've found one in my hardware cupboard. You can have it if you want it.

Re: VCR Tape to DVD or Digital media
Would it be OK for me to borrow this for a few days to see if I can do a job for Big Boy? I have a VCR here and plenty of video capability on my computer but nothing to get the signal from analogue to digital - this could be the ticket!
Jack Sprat, would you add me to any PMs, please?
