Epson Printer Repair

Post by fft100 »

A few months ago I bought a L565, but didn't get round to opening it until today as the existing printer decided to print far more on its ink cartridges than ever before (c'est la vie !).

Anyway, when setting up, after a couple of minutes it emits a loud screech, an error code and that's that. According to the net, it either means there is some of the original packaging inside, or there is something wrong with the printer. I have checked all over and inside the printer and can find no more tape or packaging. I have tried 3 times, and every time it screeches.

Epson service center is a joke and just asks to leave a number. Having experience of service centres, I suspect it could take months to get it back if I send it up to BKK.

Having cost nearly 5 figures, I would like to get it repaired rather than bin it. Does anyone know anyone who services/fixes Epson printers in the HH area ?

Many thanks

They don't seem to have any authorised repair centre in HH but you can call their centre in Sathorn (026 859 888) and discuss the options.
Just out of curiosity, was the error code an "0xea"?

Yep. The error code was an 0XEA.

Epson called me back and there is an Epson repair centre in pranburi, about 500m before the main traffic light near the KrungThai bank.

I went down there today. Dusty old place that hasnt been looked after. It doesn't seem to sell printers but had a load of consumables for all kinds of printer makes. They also seem to do repairs for all kinds of printers. Lots of cheap, old printers with service dockets attached. half lying on the floor and half on old tables.

They tried initializing it, and had the same error. They looked inside and tried moving a few bits manually, but the same error. They checked the warranty and filled a form in. 7 days they estimated. So far, so good....

The woman behind the desk then gave me the box back and said put it in the car. I said, no, you need it to put the printer in. She explained that the parts would be sent down from BKK (how did she know the parts required ? dunno), so they didn't need the box. I looked around again, and mine was the only vaguely high end printer there. I only opened the box yesterday, and did not think that lying around on the floor without a box was great (there was no space on any of the tables). I told her so. She was not happy. I asked if anyone kicked the printer (especially the attached print tanks) and damaged it would she pay. Even more unhappy. In the end I had to get my Thai wife to speak to her and tell her to do it. No other printer was in a box, but they were old (age and condition) and the box had probably been thrown away a long time ago.

She agreed to put it in the box, but then took the box and put it at the back of the shop. I asked why not put the printer in the box. Oh, a 'chang' will check the printer again later..... I left, but will probably pop in tomorrow to see if the printer is in the box or not. Even check to see if the box is still there ! If it isn't, I feel an email to Epson coming on.

if you're not satisfied with their service you can try the computer shop next to The Baguette, just before soi 41. park at Golden Place, it's easier than finding a place on the street. they've repaired my HP printer and my Dell lap top. Bring your wife to explain what you want.
